Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Alien8n: And that makes post 20,000? Complaining about the British weather?

(And yes, it's bloody cold here)
avatar
MGShogun: Is it snowing over there?
Nah. Not THAT cold. Plus snow in the South of England is pretty unlikely due to the fact that we're an Island and the South's just that little bit warmer.

I live near London for University though, so we do get snow. Just not right now.

Schemilix: Haha, that cheered me up. Of all things to get the legendary 20K post on. Hail Britannia.
Hail the Lord Jesus H. Christ!

(not religious myself)

SpiderFighter: Now that the mad dash for the 20k post has ended, my question stands a chance of being seen, so I'll repost. lol

Knofbath: 3 is considered the best of the series, but you'll probably like 5 as well.

SpiderFighter: Does GOG now have the Tutorial manual with the game? I remember hearing it was missing when they first sold it (HoM&M3).
It says there are 3 manuals included on the GoG page. I've got the box set so I don't know what they are.

GR3G0R14N: Thanks for the opinions guys. I own the dark project [without gold's bonus missions] and metal age [good ol' cd's] and never actually had a chance to check deadly shadows u_u - so now I've got dillema which one to buy [the gold with extra content or 3rd one to continue the story - which'll further expand in thief 4 I presume].
Thief 4 is a reboot not a

You mean, "meanwhile the next day" don´t you=)?

shadowbaneaxe: If you like adventure games at all, you should play it.

It's a high quality game (characters, voice acting, references, jokes, etc were all satisfying to me) and it's not like you'll blaze through it either. All episodes combined have a very good length. It took me a week to finish it, (almost) without using walkthroughs. For comparison, I recently finished the free Flight of the Amazon Queen in a day and a half.

MGShogun: Sweet, thanks so much!
The only problem I have with it is that - while the conclusion is good enough - after the ending credits you get to see a bit that teases you for a sequel. And that sequel might not be made by TellTale games, because they are focusing on different franchises now. Disney owning LucasArts probably isn't helping either.

kecskeszarv: Seeing that here are a lot of knowledgeable gamers I have a question.

I have seen and heard a lot of rave about a few rpgs. My main gripe is, that I don't really like squad based rpgs, the only one I enjoyed is a rather odd one Fallout Tactics, but that is almost just complete combat.

I really do enjoy more soloing in rpgs and not the have a complete group.

Should this keep me from getting something like:

Planescape: Torment, BG 1 or 2 or the likes of similar big ones?

These games seem nice, but the group thing put me off.
I would say that if you primarily enjoy combat to go for the Icewind Dale series. To me, the big D&D games come in three flavors - lots of combat, minimal talking (Icewind), a mix of the two (Baldur's Gate) and holy crap it's a book but a great book (Planescape).

KoolZoid: To celebrate 1000 pages and 20,000 posts, here's a code for the current game on offer (which is Monkey Island)

Note though - I've written it BACKWARDS!!!!

xenxander: NINJA!!!!! >:(

missed it again.
I am way too slow for these tricky ones....mind asleep....but thanks anyways!
Tales of Monkey Island is normally 35 bucks?

that's kinda crazy.
low rated

mkell_226: That sums up Al Lowe's "humor" pretty well. Ever seen the guy? He looks exactly like the embarrassing bachelor uncle that everyone hates to have at family gatherings.
avatar
Schemilix: Yeah. It just doesn't have the right tongue-in-cheek factor to justify itself. Having games with ridiculous exploitation and violence and such can be done well given that it invokes in the player a sense of thought, that is to say, that it highlights to the consumer just WHAT they are doing and forces them to think.
LSL is bloody brainless from what I've seen. I know it mocks Larry but, oy.
what wrong with having some fun having some sexy women? that what they there for! so anything that could offend anyone has to be tongue in cheek? fuck that someone's always gon be offended in our modern liberal society bollocks. I find all the whining and censorship much worse than half the offensive stuff. also leisure suit larry is clearly taking the piss in a big way anyway and just isn't against women

what kind of rubbish is that to judge him on his looks anyway other person?

just liberal whining. never had 2 give a woman the hand keep her quiet you fellas

Yeah, He already announced he will be renaming it to Keane Island and claims it to produce his thrid game. Jack Keane 3: The unwritten Tale of Keane Island and the Blackwell where Dragon Commanders, Eador and other guys live in Omerta

Southern Finland is experiencing a very strange, warm November so far. No snow! hardly any sub-zero days or even nights! This is pretty crazy warm, for this time of the year, for the capital area....

Not yet, part of the reason it's so cold is the clear skies we've been having. Give it a week and we'll be complaining about the wrong type of snow on the ground though...
