Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Congrats on 20,000th comment! :DDD
Dear God this is torture... why oh why didn't I buy the remaining games on my list the first time around? :/

It's a lesson learned the hard way.

kecskeszarv: Seeing that here are a lot of knowledgeable gamers I have a question.

I have seen and heard a lot of rave about a few rpgs. My main gripe is, that I don't really like squad based rpgs, the only one I enjoyed is a rather odd one Fallout Tactics, but that is almost just complete combat.

I really do enjoy more soloing in rpgs and not the have a complete group.

Should this keep me from getting something like:

Planescape: Torment, BG 1 or 2 or the likes of similar big ones?

These games seem nice, but the group thing put me off.
I don't like squad-based RPGs either, but BG2 is the one exception.
It does the squad thing really well (it's easy to manage, and the characters are exceptionally interesting), and the whole game is just fantastic.
I'm not sure if you'll like it, but if you decide to try one of those, make it BG2.

gscotti: It's extremely subjective. For me, HoMM V is a total turd. I cannot stand the camera, the fact that it took 3 steps back compared to HoMM IV (which brough a lot of innovation) and still could not manage to get the depth and charm of HoMM III.
HoMM 3 still has some of the best game music I've ever heard. Not as "sit down and listen" music, but as a way of indicating the themes of the different factions, and imparting a pleasant sense of adventure. It has the perfect balance between being distinctive without getting repetitive.

stan423321: GOG staff, is there a forum thread length limit?
If there is it will be on one of the standard boarder numbers, 32k, 64k, 2m or 4m

MGShogun: Still debating if I should get it or not.

shadowbaneaxe: If you like adventure games at all, you should play it.

It's a high quality game (characters, voice acting, references, jokes, etc were all satisfying to me) and it's not like you'll blaze through it either. All episodes combined have a very good length. It took me a week to finish it, (almost) without using walkthroughs. For comparison, I recently finished the free Flight of the Amazon Queen in a day and a half.
Sweet, thanks so much!

GR3G0R14N: is deadly shadows as good as first two ?
Not as good as the first 2.
It was developed by Ion Storm, not Looking Glass, with just few members of the original team. The controls and movements feel clunky at times.
A bug, don't know if fixed, with the ragdoll physics, caused the blackjacked enemies to roll on their back. They used a TV friendly color scheme, with far too much blue shadows.
For sound, architecture, atmosphere, voice acting (Stephen Russell is back as Garret), they did a good job. Some level is better than other, but they are usually small.
Story... well, if you remember Thief 1, you should know that for Garret wisdom is his dump stat.
