Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Don't look now, but we are on the threshold of the 20,000th post! :-)

Who will be the lucky Gogger?

GhostwriterDoF: For those of you watching these posts and not posting, get Monkey Island while it is available at this price!!!!
I bought it. Thought, that 4.02€ is not that bad. ;)
avatar
jpwiseguy: Jackmonkey Keaneisland?
avatar
shadowbaneaxe: Nah. ToMI is actually value for your money. It won't take THAT long for it to sell out.
Just kidding, not my thing, but I know a lot of ppl like it. It's moving along at a decent pace.

Schemilix: Well other than the fact that I don't get the sex appeal of women that badly drawn, it's... well it's pretty much the epitome of a product that sells by being degrading and tasteless. And this coming from someone who likes the Amazon out of Dragon's Crown because she's pretty damn hot and kicks your ass while she's at it, so I'm no prude.

mkell_226: That sums up Al Lowe's "humor" pretty well. Ever seen the guy? He looks exactly like the embarrassing bachelor uncle that everyone hates to have at family gatherings.
Yeah. It just doesn't have the right tongue-in-cheek factor to justify itself. Having games with ridiculous exploitation and violence and such can be done well given that it invokes in the player a sense of thought, that is to say, that it highlights to the consumer just WHAT they are doing and forces them to think.
LSL is bloody brainless from what I've seen. I know it mocks Larry but, oy.

Kennethor: Nooo! Last chance, someone buy me the real texas, I will give you something for 5.99 later.
I tried buying you one but forgot to give your details, idiot that I am. I've sent a support request to GOG and hope they'll transfer it to your account. :/
avatar
RandomJC: stupid gog. exploiting me. stupid making me buy games.
No one is making you buy games.

NO! GET MY MOUSE AWAY FROM THE BUY BUTTON, DON'T MAKE ME BUY ANOTHER GAME!
For that price, it has already sell almost half of the 600 copies, not bad at all
avatar
Ungunbu: i'm lucky only my rep has it

anyway it's just because i continue talking about hacking the promo and the forum LOL
avatar
Russonc: what keep's happening to your rep.....I thought we got it up a bit ago...
yeah but i just continued to politically incorrect --- sob

I want to buy games, but I also want to snuggle with the missus.

I can only choose one :(
Well, this looks like it'll take a while, so one last shameless plug before I sign off:

You can get a free copy of a fun old Sci-Fi Rogue-Like, "Jaunttrooper: Mission Thunderbolt" either by writing the author at megacorp@aol.com or sending me a PM here!

And vote it up on the wishlist: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/jaunttrooper_mission_thunderbolt]http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/jaunttrooper_mission_thunderbolthttp://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/jaunttrooper_mission_thunderbolt
If you email the author, please encourage him to submit the game here, as it would make a great freebie and he doesn't seem interested in getting any money from it anymore.

kecskeszarv: Seeing that here are a lot of knowledgeable gamers I have a question.

I have seen and heard a lot of rave about a few rpgs. My main gripe is, that I don't really like squad based rpgs, the only one I enjoyed is a rather odd one Fallout Tactics, but that is almost just complete combat.

I really do enjoy more soloing in rpgs and not the have a complete group.

Should this keep me from getting something like:

Planescape: Torment, BG 1 or 2 or the likes of similar big ones?

These games seem nice, but the group thing put me off.
Then do not buy BG or Icewind Dale Games. trust me. I tried demos for most of them and I hated them because of the group based system.
Planescape Torment I just bought myself out of curiosity. No Idea if the gamepaly will kill it for me.
running errands, hopped into a library to do a quick check and see I haven't missed Jade Empire yet .... Have a few minutes to kill, hope this one moves through quick :)

Schemilix: Don't buy HOMM5 based on liking the others. It deviated drastically.

I liked it, I guess, but it's not really like the others.
avatar
elenitza: I'm actually waiting for this one... I saw a little bit of the game some years ago and I think I want it!
I'm waiting for both HoMM 3 and 5. They are both great games in their own right...

I do enjoy it a lot, but I find myself playing HOMM3 instead, haha. The designs went World of Warcraft clone. And the HOMM3 ones were hilariously ugly, but in a cute way.
Shamelessly trying for the 20.000th post.....

EDIT: LOL, I am way off.

Embarrassing.....
