Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

TH_BEl: RCR ~8 hours

Ninlil: Oh god. Must have been hell.
Yeah RCR out-Keaned Keane.
avatar
SpiderFighter: Not to mention Ultima 4!
avatar
MGShogun: Ah yes. My point is that not all freebies are awful.

Need to play U4, though. :P
I was agreeing with your post and adding to it. :)

lubwak: Ypu mentioned cheap "RPGs" for the most part. New Vegas was great because of the story, System Shock mainly because of dialogues. Skyrim's best quality wasn't the story, but the possibilities it gave you. Bethesda makes tedious games with average story that must be played moderately, if you do not want to get fed up with them. Ne Vegas was made by Obsidian, so the only disadvantage was the F3 engine. F3 was awful in so many ways that I'd better not get myself started on it.

CarrionCrow: Fallout 3 was 105 hours of "Please get your fist out of my sphincter, it really distracts me from the INCREDIBLY FRIGGING IMPORTANT, CRUCIAL AND VITAL INVENTORY MANAGEMENT".
fallout 3 is very fun if u get it right
avatar
CarrionCrow: I enjoyed Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, Icewind Dale 1 & 2, Fallout 1, thought Fallout 2 was good until I got sidetracked and never finished, enjoyed Fallout Tactics enough to play through it after a friend wiped out my saves two levels from completion, Planescape Torment is great.

Khalaq: Based on that list, I recommend you finish Fallout 2 (the ending is great). I'm sure other people can chime in with recommendations based on what you enjoy.
KOTOR 1 + 2

Buenro-games: LSL is an awesome classic that you can't compare to a nouveau title like Don't Starve.

LSL was Sierra's response to all the hot blooded teens who were playing their other titles like King's Quest, Space Quest, Police Quest. They just made a raunchy funny version of those quests and the Larry saga was born. Back then you played Ultima and the Quest series for serious play time and you popped in Larry to just goof around.

Ever since the first one came out, I loved the franchise, even the much maligned Cum Laude.

Bonshea: Oh, no, no, no. I wasn't comparing the two games based on themselves. I realize they're two completely different, but highly respected and absolutely enjoyable, games in their own rights. I was making that joke based on how even though Don't Starve was a highly sought after game, based on forums posts, it took forever to sell. Then Leisure Suit Larry popped up and took forever to sell; and I don't believe it's because people think it's an inferior adventure game compared to others offered -I honestly think it's one of the better classics which still holds even today. Just that most people who of wanted to play the game by now have already experienced it and/or owned a copy.

I was just a little humbled by how fast LsL was selling now, compared to last night. I didn't mean any disrespect towards the game.
I would by the collection again if they included LSL 7 and the CD-version of LSL 6 =)

Have you modded Kotor 2? OMG such a great experience. Some modder put in all the missing unfinished content into the game. Kotor 2 +mods = one of the best RPGs in that generation.

Schemilix: Which FFs have you played since, CarrionCrow? Tactics is by far the best in my eyes, for example. It's my favourite game for its plot and enjoyable battle system.

I find 6 so... I loathe to use the word, overrated. It's better than 7 and 8 but to me it's pretty shallow and lifeless... like most FF titles actually.
avatar
CarrionCrow: Let's see....1,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,tried 10-2 but my hands tried to strangle me to death within ten minutes, 13 and 13-2. Also, I forgot Tactics, but that was definitely enjoyable until they threw the deus ex machine gamebreaker NPC into the mix, making me feel like the 65 hours I'd spent didn't amount to a whole hell of a lot.
Don't use Thundergod Cid then. I don't use TG Cid at all. I take his sword and stick it on Meliadoul (the green-robed Templar chick you pick up late game) instead, it's much less broken. TG Cid is that character where it doesn't COUNT if you used him since he's so broken, ha.

I recommend FFXII. It's the only main series non-MMORPG you missed. It's my favourite along with 9. I can get how you don't like 9. The battle system was tedious and it was quite 'cute' compared to the others, as well as confusing at times. XII also has its flaws but it's a pretty solid and adaptable game system with some well thought out characters. It goes a bit funny in the second half after Yasumi Matsuno left, but the environments are still great. Very non-linear for an FF title, too. Lots of sidequests. Great soundtrack too.

7 8 and 10 don't appeal to me remotely, except for the OSTs. Pffft.
Can someone tell me if there's any possibility of Jade Empire coming back up for sale?

That's the one I've been waiting for, and I know it's been up before.

CD-version, as in SVGA talkie version? It is included in the collection. LSL7 not though.
