Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

The Real Keane!

gscotti: I thought only crappy games were freebies. Fallout 1 is a crazy good RPG. One of the best, IMHO.

smoother: Wasn't SS2 a freebie yesterday? Or is my lack of sleep speaking...
I am not talking about promo freebies (which are impossible for me to capture). I am talking about the regular freebies on GOG, which you can pick up any time you want.

MGShogun: 2 days ago, to be precisely.

It went so fast!
lost track of time... thanks to GOG's great promo!

CarrionCrow: Don't feel like you're the only one. I don't like Mass Effect, loathed Fallout 3, only found enjoyment in New Vegas by running through it, killing everything I could and never using a shop, got bored to tears by Skyrim, haven't liked a Final Fantasy since 6, got sick of Dragon Age and never finished it, played through System Shock 2 once to completion then decided to never play it again because I didn't think it was that great.

jpwiseguy: wha....wha...what ARE you?!
Which FFs have you played since, CarrionCrow? Tactics is by far the best in my eyes, for example. It's my favourite game for its plot and enjoyable battle system.

I find 6 so... I loathe to use the word, overrated. It's better than 7 and 8 but to me it's pretty shallow and lifeless... like most FF titles actually.

SpiderFighter: Chessmaster 9000
Space Rangers 2
Cryostasis
XIII

jackster79: I hear you on those. I was thinking of listing Space Rangers but thought that would not be fair to others who never had the chance to get them.

I myself wanted Chessmaster 9000 and that was the first one I noticed to ever be removed, and that opened my eyes up big time to never take for granted that something is in the catalogue.
Indeed. But now, with nearly 700 games, it's hard to see everything. I missed the first Space Rangers game, would've liked to have that one, too...but mostly, I want the ones I already have to come back because:
A) They're all great games
B) I know GOG works hard to keep them working with modern systems...so when I upgrade, I won't have to worry about compatibility.

On the whole, though...it's amazing how many games they're actually able to keep (and get back, in some cases).
Nooo

200 copies of the Keane Texas
The REAL Texas...not the fake Texas as seen on TV.
If someone could gift me the real texas I would buy them a game later when I got money! Thanks!
Did I miss Thief 2 or Icewind Dale?

Ninlil: Uhm, I'm back after half a day expecting the Insomnia to be over, but only 7 games were added to the list?
Which of them was Jack?

Shadow Man $2.39
Retro City Rampage $3.74
Anvil of Dawn $1.49
Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena $2.99
Ultima 7 The Complete Ed. $1.49
Defender's Quest $2.99
Leisure Suit Larry $2.49
RCR was the worst, but only Riddick was a fast one.
Hmmm the real texas looks cool but i have so many damn games already...

Nahh, im sure i can get it cheaper later on. Also we still have Thief 1-3 and Alpha centauri coming up.

Khalaq: OK, so what games have you enjoyed and thought were great?
avatar
CarrionCrow: I enjoyed Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, Icewind Dale 1 & 2, Fallout 1, thought Fallout 2 was good until I got sidetracked and never finished, enjoyed Fallout Tactics enough to play through it after a friend wiped out my saves two levels from completion, Planescape Torment is great.
so u r not all that weird

MGShogun: Beneath a Steel Sky is terrific game, dude! :P
Not to mention Ultima 4!
avatar
Faenwulf: Never played any BG or Icewind Dale.
Not really my kind of RPGs.
And yes, I have already been told that I'm a blasphemer and sprayed with Kool-Aid for saying this some pages ago.

Ypu mentioned cheap "RPGs" for the most part. New Vegas was great because of the story, System Shock mainly because of dialogues. Skyrim's best quality wasn't the story, but the possibilities it gave you. Bethesda makes tedious games with average story that must be played moderately, if you do not want to get fed up with them. Ne Vegas was made by Obsidian, so the only disadvantage was the F3 engine. F3 was awful in so many ways that I'd better not get myself started on it.
