Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

MGShogun: I really cannot scoop up every game I want at whim so I have to be very careful nowadays.

istudedinre: Oh, man... backlogs. It's like a definition of this decade of PC gaming. I have 200+ games on Steam, 40+ from GOG, 40+ from IndieGameStand, 100+ in my Humble library, 30+ from Indie Royale, 90+ on Desura, and then I have a wad of games from discs and direct purchases from devs.

And there are plenty of people with longer backlogs than me. Nowadays, I try to just relax and play whatever game I feel like playing, and I no longer feel pressure to finish unless I really love a game.

Now, if I could only finish BG I & II. I keep getting interrupted, forgetting what I was doing, and having to start over...
Ditto on BG. I think I started 1 twice already and probably going to have to do so again, and do not want to start 2 until I finish 1.

I remember when with physical copies, if you passed on the retail and decided years later you wanted it, good luck finding it for a decent (i.e. non-rip-off) price. I make a point now to buy the strategy guides for a game I know I will want as soon as it comes out for just that reason, even if I wait til later to get the game.

Faenwulf: Would you sketch a Charmander for me?
Sorry, just finished Pokemon X and love that little guy.

Schemilix: I'll always be a Hoenn kinda person. Sure I'll try that, let me get my tablet out.
I only played Red and Silver, but X sucked me back into the franchise. But since the 3DS can play the DS gamesI'll probably go back and play the ones I missed out on. But i really fell in love with the Kalos region and the whole Storyline of X. The Idea of a whole group of people kind of travelling together was great.
Charmander is the first Pokemon I ever had (considering I started with the Red version), so I'm attached to it :D

clcaztx: Is DQ any good? Never heard of it. Is it a bit like Heroes of Might and Magic?
DQ is very good. It is a TD game with retro look, high replay value and depth.

It´s the best tower defense that I´ve played. It´s a must if you like the genre. It´s fantasy themed and have light rpg elements.
Defender's Quest is slow enough I think I'll make a cup of tea.
Frosty cold in the morning before the sun.

ryanyth: Ultima 7 truly is a legendary game.
After almost close to 20years it still sells like hotcakes.

Only truly legendary games are forever remembered.
Damn i remembered my puny little 286 never ever had enough conventional memory to play it lol.
Ahhhh sweet memories.

Buenro-games: Ha, I remember getting the 6 or 8 floppy 3.5inch disks with the box and later on rebuying it with the silver seed expansion on my first owned CD game and wondering how they fit all that stuff in this little thin platter.
Yea. and take a look at how big U7 is. Only 30MB!!!
All that gaming goodness in ONLY 30MB!!!

Take a look at todays games. Most of them are hundreds of Gigs
in size and don't even have enough gaming value compared to U7.

Sigh~

TehK47z: Retro City Rampage $3.74
Anvil of Dawn $1.49
Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena $2.99
Ultima 7 The Complete Edition $1.49
Geez! Riddick must have gone fast! Missed that one.... oh well. Maybe at the Christmas sale.
I'm guessing I haven't missed much since Anvil?

For those on the fence, Defender's Quest is a STEAL at this price, and it's an incredibly addictive spin on the Tower Defense genre. It also has devs who responded immediately to the community's concerns and who, imho, deserve to be supported.

From my original review: "The privacy concerns were immediately taken care of via a patch, and the devs continue to regularly check the forums. That kind of attitude is enough to reward, but the game itself? I'ts probably the single most addictive game I've ever played. Remember how some people used to dream of Tetris pieces back in the day? Yeah, that's me with Defender's Quest. How can I replay this board with the least amount of PCs? How can I do it with just Rangers? Just Berserkers?

Not only is it a fresh take on an over-saturated genre, but it has an intelligent, humorous story that CONTINUES even after you beat it!! With tons of replay value (different challenge levels, branching paths, varied gear and upgrades), memorable & funny characters (see title of review), colorful & well-drawn graphics and (obviously) great RPG/Tower Defense game play, once you make it full screen and scaled, it's fast, furious, and freakin' fun!"

AttObl: Which game is it?
Astro Emporia.
Not sure why he'd have been worried about a bad review - it's ratings so far look pretty good.
