Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Why not let's all have a top five cross-platform games ever thing to pass the time. For me it's:

-Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together
-Final Fantasy Tactics
-FFXII
-FFIX
-Heroes of Might and Magic III

Shameless JRPG whoring. Weirdly I find nearly every Final Fantasy boring but the ones I like, I love.

xenxander: I think Ultima VII is selling so well due to Spoony's review.
avatar
zlep: Ultima 7 would sell well in any case, cos it's a great game.

Now Ultima 8 and Ultima 9 - the reason *they* sell is because of Spoony's reviews. Everyone wants to see for themselves just how bad it gets. :-)
Shh... thats why I bought them all.

Minmataro: Never buy old games on Steam. THey are unsupported, you need to fix the game on your own. At least with GoG they attempt to get the games to run well on Win7/8

xenxander: +1 .. hell +100!

I had to work VERY hard to get my "majesty gold" to work properly :(
I will never understand why Majesty Gold isn't available here. It seems like such a shoe-in. Classic game. DRM-free. Not on GOG - sigh.

xenxander: How are you Gentlemen?

It's you!

All your base are belong to us.
I am doing just fine good sir, and yourself?

Please leave my base alone!

Schemilix: Whether it's effective or not doesn't affect their right to do it, though. That's not what this conversation's about.
avatar
Shendue: Well, if my local grocery starts putting scarecrows among products because they think it's an effective anti-steal countermeasure, i guess it's in my right to express the thought that i think it's dumb.
Of course. Dumb yes. Immoral, no.

mercutiouk: I use to have a lot of games from Gamersgate when it was the main platform for Paradox Studios releases (Crusader Kings II). But ever since Paradox sold GG to a different company and they started to compete with Steam, they haven't been as good as before (however, if you use Steam, when GG have a sale they usually sell a Steam jey cheaper than a Steam sale). I never had a problem with DRM on Gamersgate so far, apart from the process you just described. I would say go for it, they are quite good.

And now for something completely different: did Icewind Dale 2 came up for the third time already?
avatar
CorranHorn: I don´t think it has been on the sale at all but I could be mistaken.
IWD 2 wasn't a part of this sale.
avatar
CorranHorn: Me too, have it on Xbox 360 and it´s a good game also got the sequel in a sale for the retail version. Another game I need to play, so many games it´s hard to decide which one to play first. Now I play Torchlight but after getting the WB humble bundle I started to play Batman : AA, they nailed the cartoon and what I like about Batman. The combat is fun but it´s way more fun lurking in the shadow taking them out one by one without them never knowing what hit them=).
avatar
KMetalMind: Both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are awesome. You won´t be disappointed by either of them. It´s like a Metroidvania with everything right about Batman, and good storyline. The fighting system is really enjoyable too, and the stealth is even better :P They are VERY replayable too. That´s not so common in modern games.

avatar
Daz12380: i didnt like it as much as the first and less demon powers and no darkness guns made me sad all though the dark did incresed weapon damage id prefer just demon guns in general
avatar
KMetalMind: Thanks for the opinion! I will probably end up playing it someday, although I´m nearly sure it´s worse than the first one :P
it is but you can get it cheap on sales i paid full for it

How is the weather there? It's pretty mild and damp here but that's what happens when you live in the land of Dragons and Sheep.

:D

Faenwulf: You guys suck.

I don't want to buy Ultima 7. Stop tempting me. I only have money left for Aquanox 1 and Witcher 2!
avatar
D3athR3aver: C'moooooooooooon... you know you want to...
If i had the money...yes.
But you could always buy it and gift it to me? :P

Majesty Gold is a missed chance, here on GOG.

GOG, put it on, now!
avatar
MGShogun: Already got it when it was on sale some time ago. That reminds me...... I should install it and play it. :P
avatar
Fezred: Yes you should! Get to it! :P

The Virtues and the people of Britannia compel you. It's so much fun. Finding way to do very un-avatar like things and get away with it was always part of the fun too. They've even left the hilarious copy protection thing in so you can enjoy that too.
I remember that the controls were bit......... offish but I guess I gotta read the manual.
