Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

JohnnyDollar: @anyone
How would you rate Expeditions: Conquistador out of 100?
I too would like to know since it looks interesting and am planning on buying it when it appears.

CorranHorn: Me too, have it on Xbox 360 and it´s a good game also got the sequel in a sale for the retail version. Another game I need to play, so many games it´s hard to decide which one to play first. Now I play Torchlight but after getting the WB humble bundle I started to play Batman : AA, they nailed the cartoon and what I like about Batman. The combat is fun but it´s way more fun lurking in the shadow taking them out one by one without them never knowing what hit them=).
Both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are awesome. You won´t be disappointed by either of them. It´s like a Metroidvania with everything right about Batman, and good storyline. The fighting system is really enjoyable too, and the stealth is even better :P They are VERY replayable too. That´s not so common in modern games.

Daz12380: i didnt like it as much as the first and less demon powers and no darkness guns made me sad all though the dark did incresed weapon damage id prefer just demon guns in general
Thanks for the opinion! I will probably end up playing it someday, although I´m nearly sure it´s worse than the first one :P

Schemilix: Yeah, this thread is weirdly entertaining. I should be writing a dissertation on cephalopods not sitting around on a forum, but hey.

Buenro-games: Just tell your instructor that the Keane ate your homework.
This dissertation is an entire course unit for my final year as an undergrad, the only person I'd be screwing over is myself. ;)

Marcomies: On Gamersgate you download a separate downloader for every game and let it download the game. It does require the cd key to start downloadin.

The installer files are usually decrypted unless you have the installer running. It's not DRM free in the same sense than GOG but you won't need to install any gamersgate software on your computer to install or play the games (unless of course it's a steam game they sell). It's my second favourite site after GOG.

mercutiouk: I use to have a lot of games from Gamersgate when it was the main platform for Paradox Studios releases (Crusader Kings II). But ever since Paradox sold GG to a different company and they started to compete with Steam, they haven't been as good as before (however, if you use Steam, when GG have a sale they usually sell a Steam jey cheaper than a Steam sale). I never had a problem with DRM on Gamersgate so far, apart from the process you just described. I would say go for it, they are quite good.

And now for something completely different: did Icewind Dale 2 came up for the third time already?
I don´t think it has been on the sale at all but I could be mistaken. They really should´ve called it Icewind Dale 1 : Complete so people don´t think it also includes the second game.

cpucrust: I so wanted to buy the follow up title: "Skyrim" and I still want to buy and then play it - but ONLY with the DRM removed. My hope is that it will someday become available on GOG or other such DRM free services where I can actually buy the "PRODUCT" clear of any restrictions.
Me too want to buy this game, but It's steamworks, so I will play prophet edition. If Bethesda will want to offer the game to entire market (Drm-free buyers included) in a future, I will buy like I did with Alan Wake here in GOG. Like I will do with Deadly Premonition.

I want to support this games; but If companies don't offer like I want (DRM-Free), I will never buy their games and I will play the games anyway. If I must to play Prophet, reloaded, skidrow or whoever release the game, I'll do without regrets because they don't offer my the opportunity to buy DRM-FREE. Companies are losing money with me and It's not my problem. When they change their mindset then will begin to gain money with people like me. I know we are a minority, but if they don't offer that we want they will continue losing money.

ThomasAndrews: Had to go to work last night... Has the "last chance" for Neverwinter Nights 2 Complete come up yet? I immediately regretted not snagging that one when it was on sale the first time....
avatar
mm3n: Sorry to disappoint you, but yep :/ I missed it too due to lack of finances, lol.
Curses! Ah well, Christmas is coming. :D I've got the main quest, just wanted the expansions. I already spent more than I was planning to on this sale, anyway.

How are you Gentlemen?

It's you!

All your base are belong to us.
You guys suck.

I don't want to buy Ultima 7. Stop tempting me. I only have money left for Aquanox 1 and Witcher 2!

Schemilix: Whether it's effective or not doesn't affect their right to do it, though. That's not what this conversation's about.
Well, if my local grocery starts putting scarecrows among products because they think it's an effective anti-steal countermeasure, i guess it's in my right to express the thought that i think it's dumb.
avatar
Fezred: Ultima 7 is a legend. If we can't find enough people who think it is worth at least the measly sum of $1.49 then the site should be closed down and we should just forget the whole thing. BUY IT AND TRY IT. A fantastic adventure there. So much fun and so much mischief can be had. It runs very well too. I prefer this style than trying it through something like Exult (although that system might be fun to play around and break it on a second or later re run ;) ).
avatar
MGShogun: Already got it when it was on sale some time ago. That reminds me...... I should install it and play it. :P
Yes you should! Get to it! :P

The Virtues and the people of Britannia compel you. It's so much fun. Finding way to do very un-avatar like things and get away with it was always part of the fun too. They've even left the hilarious copy protection thing in so you can enjoy that too.

Sadly, I know how that feels xD Good luck with your X-mas shopping then!
