Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Looks like we've hit a good run after the previous few... Riddick closes out quickly and now U7 complete is up. I wasn't planning on getting Riddick, but it looked interesting and the reviews here and metacritic were good, so I grabbed it.
Ultima 7, finally!!!

gscotti: EIGHT hours! :D

CarrionCrow: Lost track between the urge to sleep and the urge to kill. lol. Thank you for applying the correct amount of time.
It's important, in case Omerta tries to beat the record.
Richard Garriott compels you to buy Ultima 7 to finance his voyage to Mars :)

Fezred: Awesome! :) Nice to see someone enjoyed some of the old classics too! It's one of those early games you can spend years trying to recapture the magic of it.

KPWNINJA: I have heard great things about this new release too. I may post a review on my blog after spending a couple of hours with it.

Cool. Be sure to link on the forum when you do. It can't go wrong to go a bit in depth into this game. It's quite an unusual experience so not something people will be immediately familiar with. I'm not sure if anyone has even tried recreating it (obviously aside from this author-created modern version).

smoother: Can someone trade WItcher 1? I have System Shock 2 to offer.
Annnd done.
FINALLY! Thank you GOG for getting to this, now all I need is Privateer and Thief Gold.
Good Lord FINALLY! Ultima VII, the last game on offer I still wanted. I'll call it a day now, or maybe rather a weekend, seeing as this sale seems to be here stay.

Yep! That´s true... It was an awesome game. I hope it gets re-released on PC someday...

Haven´t played the second one though, I just didn´t like the demo and Starbreeze didn´t make the game either...

Faenwulf: Ultima 7?
Take this Gog: http://objection.mrdictionary.net/go.php?n=7006915
Wow, it seems my objection was well-received and nw everyone is using the generator. Nice!
Still waiting on Rayman: Origins, Postal 2, and Thief 1+2. Pretty much own everything else either already on GOG or physically, or I just don't want it.
please go fast, I need to get some chores done! (or go real slow I guess would work as well.)

jackster79: No, that was from an era just before I got into gaming (and even then only on the Nintendo systems). However, my fellow team-member at work did and listening to his take on the game helped influence me getting it during this sale. From what I gather, it is both a RTS and an Action/Adventure, depending on one's playstyle?
avatar
Fezred: Yes, it manages to do both. The designers suggest for a maximum gameplay experience or a complete win to try and do both at the same time but typically people would concentrate on one or the other and so get two quite different game experiences from the one game. The RTS style was quite unusual too, even for its time, I think. I remember having old hand drawn maps and marking on them carefully sighted movements, castles, etc. All good fun. This one has made things a bit friendlier and given loads of advice on what to do to save the player getting lost or confused, especially as today's gamer isn't as willing to put up with clunky or slow beginnings. All in all a good improvement and it doesn't harm the game at all. Better than trying it through emulation.
Hmmm... seems like maybe try it the two different ways first to learn the two systems before going for the maximum experience?

Looks like I am in for a bigger treat than I expected. :-)

Uzur9: I dont mind Steam and all but I find it funny that some of the older games they have been putting on I find myself wanting to come here to buy them. Seeing as I feel I can get a better deal here + seems that most games come with OSTs
Never buy old games on Steam. THey are unsupported, you need to fix the game on your own. At least with GoG they attempt to get the games to run well on Win7/8

Riddick is riddickulously good! (See what I did there?)
