Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Fezred: Did you play the original LoM? That was a gem of a game back in the day. Really felt like an adventure.

jackster79: No, that was from an era just before I got into gaming (and even then only on the Nintendo systems). However, my fellow team-member at work did and listening to his take on the game helped influence me getting it during this sale. From what I gather, it is both a RTS and an Action/Adventure, depending on one's playstyle?
Yes, it manages to do both. The designers suggest for a maximum gameplay experience or a complete win to try and do both at the same time but typically people would concentrate on one or the other and so get two quite different game experiences from the one game. The RTS style was quite unusual too, even for its time, I think. I remember having old hand drawn maps and marking on them carefully sighted movements, castles, etc. All good fun. This one has made things a bit friendlier and given loads of advice on what to do to save the player getting lost or confused, especially as today's gamer isn't as willing to put up with clunky or slow beginnings. All in all a good improvement and it doesn't harm the game at all. Better than trying it through emulation.

smoother: Can someone trade WItcher 1? I have System Shock 2 to offer.

jfelsman: Witcher 1 is on sale now anyway for 2.49
You could be in luck, there has been many postings of Witcher codes for free in this thread=).
I dont mind Steam and all but I find it funny that some of the older games they have been putting on I find myself wanting to come here to buy them. Seeing as I feel I can get a better deal here + seems that most games come with OSTs

stinusmeret: I know but that requires dealing with their drm which I don't really want to cause I've never used Gamersgate :P
It IS very tempting though.

cpucrust: Actually if anyone has experience with Gamers Gate, I was interested in a title named "Flat Out 2" a racing game which on GG claims to be DRM free.

Is it really DRM free like in the sense that GOG titles are? Or am I constrained by some kind of GG downloader/spyware that I must use to get/install the game?

Appreciate any guidance or thoughts on the GG experience.
On Gamersgate you download a separate downloader for every game and let it download the game. It does require the cd key to start downloadin.

The installer files are usually decrypted unless you have the installer running. It's not DRM free in the same sense than GOG but you won't need to install any gamersgate software on your computer to install or play the games (unless of course it's a steam game they sell). It's my second favourite site after GOG.
Riddick's speeding along. Not a surprise. Aside from being a good game, it's release on every other platform but GOG is crippled with limited activation DRM.

CorranHorn: Get this one if You like Riddick from Pitch Black and the sequel, it´s one of the best games ever made based on a movie character. Starbreeze´s best game to date without a doubt.
Personally I loved The Darkness too :P

CarrionCrow: No. Nothing between the two.
Before Anvil was Retro City Rampage.

Yeah I know...I was there all the time but when I went to cook dinner and came back Anvil was there and I had no chance to see if something was sold like flash in the middle of it. Thanks!

its a shame that the first darkness werent on pc
Just bought a gift key at this price. I'm sure I can trade with someone.

Actually, I've been waiting for "Tropico 3" during this entire Keanegate and other forgettable titles (not that they are 'bad' games - just overpriced in comparison).

So, anyone want to trade a "Tropico 3" gift code for a "Riddick" gift code?
I think Ultima VII is selling so well due to Spoony's review.
Had the game in Steam but decided to grab a GOG copy too, at minimum helps the sales bar keeps moving...
