Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

I'm surprised that this is selling very quickly.

I was fear that we would get Keane'd for sure.
I heard TAGES was bad, but I think Starforce is the worst copy protection system.

groze: God, isn't 600 Riddicks a bit too much?!

I haven't seen that much demand for it in the forums... mostly people praising it after they bought it.

KPWNINJA: Riddick will sell quickly. It's a fantastic game and DRM-Free.
For that price I would have bought it myself just to get the DRM free version of it if I could afford it=).

I have witcher 1, but I wanted that wizard game that everyone else seemed to hate :p

Khaleesia87: Was there something between Anvil of Dawn and The Chronicles of Riddick? and before Anvil of Dawn?

CarrionCrow: No. Nothing between the two.
Before Anvil was Retro City Rampage.

Witcher 1 is on sale now anyway for 2.49

Buenro-games: Tages... uggghhhh... french should stay away from the software industry just like they will in the world cup.

xenxander: You will have to educate me on what that stands for and what it does, exactly.
Tages
If they do a last chance round again in one of these sales, I really think they should limit it to the fastest sellers only, or half the number of copies for all games concerned.

As things stand, this is sucking a lot of the momentum out of the sale and undermining the idea of limited availability. I almost feel sort of silly for getting so excited about the first two rounds now, knowing that the rush to get the games I wanted was false.

I hope they at least have something special planned at the very end to make up for this anticlimax, like an extended giveaway. Though that will probably just enrage those who miss out...

CarrionCrow: How is the Gamersgate experience overall? Never used them before, but a bit interested since GOG has the audacity to not have everything I'm looking for.
I've found them fine to use, but you need to check each game to see what type of DRM is used (some games don't have any). Also, if you want to make a back-up of a download then you have to do it before you install the game. If you search the forum you will find threads that explain exactly what you need to do.

I am secretly glad that RCR was on for so long - I had to go and write an accounting exam during the time, and I was more stressed about missing some sweet deals than I was about passing accounting!

For awhile it switched to the "Fall Somnia Sale"...

KPWNINJA: It's the reason I bought the remastered version here! ;)

Fezred: Awesome! :) Nice to see someone enjoyed some of the old classics too! It's one of those early games you can spend years trying to recapture the magic of it.
I have heard great things about this new release too. I may post a review on my blog after spending a couple of hours with it.
