Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Beware with the ninjas. They are so dangerous.

I have the first Namco-bandai boxed edition (45 euros), I redeem it here, and finally I bought the boxed Platinum edition (DRM free) (20 euros). I don't need more copies of the Witcher, and all my friends have the saga in Steam.

P.D: I think CD Projekt can't complain about my support of this game.

gscotti: The last round for Shadow Man was much faster than the 2nd one, actually. That surprised me. They were moving more than twice as many games per minute than before.
avatar
Schemilix: That's odd. Maybe people decided they wanted it.
You are right, it was very odd to see Shadow Man move so fast, after I experienced the slowness of the previous sale while I was at work. Maybe someone blogged/tweeted about the promo to the right niche of people, before the last round? "Word of mouth" and all that....

Schemilix: I'm tired of 'white/ambiguously white-ified Asian guy saves the day WITH LOTS OF ANGST AND IT'S TOTALLY DEEP AND DARK' (FFVII) type plots too. This looks genuinely dark and features an anti-hero who looks genuinely bloody interesting for once.

Nothing wrong with white male protags of course, but generally what I mean by that is 'stock hero syndrome' or in more recent years 'stock gritty anti-hero with a gravelly voice' syndrome.
When they came for the white male protagonists... I said nothing... beacause I was not a white male protagonist.
Well, I got 6 games out of this sale... more than enough for now... so back to regular life, as the sun starts to come up here in California... See ya, and good luck. :)

Good for you, i'm watching the gloomy clouds of London.

Schemilix: That's a very USA opinion of the right of the consumer to enjoy the product overcomes the right of the producer to benefit from said product. All's said and done it's a business agreement. I think there should be more transparent marketing about what kind of DRM is there. Back in the days of serial keys for so many computers at once it was reasonable. Now needing to be online is just getting a little silly.

These sales are incredibly cheap but I see GOG games pirated allll the time. I don't pirate games because of the amount of work that goes into them and my enormous backlog. But I'm vegetarian so I probably experience moral guilt more quickly than other people, ha.

But no I do think DRM is reasonable. Protecting your assets can be done without screwing other people over.
Hell actually, Steam is DRM-y. Never had a single problem with it since you can play in Offline mode. -shrugs-

MysterD: My problem is sometimes retail copies and Non-GOG versions just don't get their annoying DRM pulled - i.e. Riddick: Dark Athena.

So, if GOG or somewhere else later on gets a clean DRM-FREE version, we could actually get double-dipped on.
So because a couple of games personally annoy you, nobody in the gaming industry should be allowed to make it difficult to steal what they made? I mean I'm all in favour of sharing and caring but video games aren't exactly a life-saving advancement. They're awesome but there are other DRM-free games lying around, you know?

It's just a very self-centred attitude to take. It bugs me, therefore I CANNOT understand why anyone would ever want to protect their assets. Blame the criminals, not the victims. It'd help if they weren't overpriced, yes, but just wait for it to devalue or something. Some people pirate cheap games too. It's just bad.

Dear GOG.
For god's sake PUT A DAMN TIMER on these sales.

doady: Anvil of Dawn and System Shock 2 were the last games I wanted. So happy to get Anvil of Dawn at least. It looks like a very stylish game, I really like the graphics.

I won't play it anytime soon though since still have yet to play M&M 1-5 and Wiz 6-7 (all of which I own here), or any other first-person tile-based RPG for that matter.

I was really mad being deprived of free SS2 due to server overload, but I guess in the long run doesn't matter. Backlog is too much anyways. Plus there's no SS1...
Looks like a game like Dungeon Master and it´s "clones", I played DM not so long ago. I had forgotten how long it took to draw a map of the game while playing it at the same time, I recommend getting it if you haven´t played it

For more info on the game that made games like Eye Of The Beholder, Lands Of Lore, Black Crypt (Raven Softwares first game, oh Star Wars fans must play Jedi Knight : Jedi Outcast/Jedi Acedemy)possible, just to name a few=).

With 19 games purchased i think i may bow out of this one as well. I'm only waiting for the thief games and I already have them on Steam. I was hoping to get the GoG versions since they have better support but screw it i can just patch the steam versions myself.
So what have been on sice I went too sleep after retro city rampage?

Reever: So, the order the games turn up in doesn't stay the same, does it? There's a list with games which should come around again, but I guess the order's different. Otherwise it'd be boring :D
There was a pattern at one point, but that has seemingly been long abandoned.

Is it normal for the page to reload several pages back from the current page when posting? I keeps doing it to me when I post, and it's beginning to really annoy me..

Thank you very much, you are a good man. This goes a long way to soothe my resentment for not catching any of the freebies, in spite of my obstinate attempts.

You have my everlasting gratitude.
