Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

DaCostaBR: Okay guys, this is getting ridiculous, it's not much of a "limited stock fire sale" when people are aching and clamoring for that stock to up and end already.

Also, I'm sure someone has asked this before in one of the hundreds of pages preceding this but, when will this end? It said 101 games, but aren't we past that number already? Even not counting the repeats I mean.

Lastly, I only have two games on my wishlist, I didn't expect to see Long Live the Queen since it's so new, but I don't think I've ever seen Red Baron in a sale since the moment I joined, so GOG, if you're hoping to really spruce up this sale, I've left you a tip, just saying.
Yes 101 games but they have divided them in three rounds, I expect this to be going on for no more than 24 hours but then there are still games like Omerta and Larry so you never know=).
wow I just woke up- about 7 hours of sleep. AND NOTHING HAS CHANGED.

ubermunch: The long wait on Anvil of Dawn will give me time to establish my next Kickstarter project:

Drag On Commander: The Keane CIty Rampage of Eador (with full DLC)

I'll let you all know when you can chip in.

ryanyth: Dun forget to add Oh Merde....ahem....i mean Omerte in there.
The "full DLC" was probably a hat-tip to Omerta...

garrus74: Anyway, here's another Witcher key to sharpen up those ninja skills while we wait for Dawn (quite literally for some I guess):

Seen many keys being posted for this game, did I miss some free give away or something=).

RCR took about five-six hours by itself. Anvil of Dawn's dragging but not /really/ dragging. Shadow Man took a couple of hours.

EX-Deimon: Also doesn't help when they sell them in really high quantities. They've been bought in previous rounds. Games that do seem to sell in high quantities are the BioWare games, Obsidian and System Shock 2

Deva: Yes, but not all of us could be here the first couple of days during the previous rounds, because of work. ;) This is the first night I've spent some time (between exercising and doing some programming) watching what's going on in this sale.
It is a double-edged sword, I guess. But as I said over and over, i'm just getting impatient for my games to appear on sale. It is also preventing me from playing Chronicles of Mystara HD and Dragon's Crown since I might get too distracted and end up losing out on a game I want here.

They ran a promotion of getting a free Witcher copy if you buy any game on GOG not so long ago.

Ah yea. Good one.
Anvil of Dawn and System Shock 2 were the last games I wanted. So happy to get Anvil of Dawn at least. It looks like a very stylish game, I really like the graphics.

I won't play it anytime soon though since still have yet to play M&M 1-5 and Wiz 6-7 (all of which I own here), or any other first-person tile-based RPG for that matter.

I was really mad being deprived of free SS2 due to server overload, but I guess in the long run doesn't matter. Backlog is too much anyways. Plus there's no SS1...

I'm surprised Shadow Man struggled to shift units. Great game in my opinion! :)

I hope you've chosen an appropriate funding target date, sometime in 2024.

Yes it has, RCR got replaced by this one;).

Minmataro: imo there are worse DRM than Steam. Atleast with Steam they offer social services, instant updates and offline mode.

Other forms of DRM like Battle.net where offline is impossible or that cryptic TAGES limited activation crap is imo pure hell.
avatar
EX-Deimon: Exactly. Hence my term the only "good kind of DRM" i can possibly think of.
I see your reasoning, but i stand my point. My problem with DRM is that it's substantially misleading people into thinking they are buying games, when they are, more or less, renting them. And the more popular it gets, the thinner customer's rights become. One should be allowed to own something if he buys it.
Even if someone makes a copy of a DRM free game and gives it to someone else, that someone else would most likely be someone that wouldn't buy it in first place. He would either pirate the game or not play it at all. So there's just a minimal loss on developers. And this concept comes from someone who buys everything, for what is worth. Even some developers themselves have spoken in favour of this concept, so it's not like it's that odd of an idea.

I bought a copy... but in the last round. I think only so many people want it, or don't have it.
Even though it's so cheap it might take a little bit. Might as well go and take a big Keane while I wait. Hope the toilet doesn't get clogged.
