Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Right, I have to leave for 7 HOURS to travel home, so I'm guessing I'm going to miss the games I've been waiting all this time for.

If anyone would be kind enough to grab an extra copy of:

Assassin's Creed: Director's Cut $4.99
Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena $2.99
Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Ed $1.49
Psychonauts $2.49
Theme Hospital $1.49
Thief Gold $1.99
Thief 2: Metal Age $1.99

Before I get back, if they turn up, I will gift them things of the same value back, or even Paypal them the money for them.

If anyone is interested/willing to do this for me, first, you are awesome. And secondly, please PM me, so I know who to message back when I get home :)

Hopefully thankyou! :D

Cardian: Once upon a midnight Keaning, while I pondered weak and screening,
Through many a quaint and curious pages of forgotten lore,
Couldn't nod off, quite insanely, suddenly, when there were mainly
Good deals that would seem ungainly, plainly there came up one more.
"'Tis some good old game," I muttered, "that has not been up before -
Only this, and nothing more."

Ah, distinctly I remember, it was in the bleak November,
And each seperate, waking member flipped through pages more and more.
Eagerly we wished the next deal; - vainly we had skipped the lunch meal
Hunger, thirst, that we could not feel - not feel like we did before.
Like the joy and lust for gaming that we used to feel before -
Feelings gone forevermore.

And the ticking, mocking scoffer of each new uncertain offer
Thrilled me - filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
So that now, to still the beating of my hear , I stood repeating
"'Tis some game entreating entrance to this sale of yore -
Some good old game entreating entrance to this sale of yore; -
This it is, and nothing more."

Presently my sould grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,
"Blood," said I, "or Reus, this could really be a chore;
For the fact is you're mundanely, and you're also quite profanely,
And you also seem ungainly, mainly due to your low score.
I don't really want to buy you" - here I looked straight at the store; -
Retro Rampage... nothing more.

Hard, right at the counter, peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;
But the silence was soon broken, for the counter showed a token
Of 600 games and spoken were the whispered words, "No more."
This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the words, "No more!"
Merely this and nothing more.

Back into the forum turning, all my soul within me burning,
When I could not see a ticking of the counter in the store.
"Surely," said I, "that's not meaning that we are in for a Keaning.
Let me see then, slightly leaning, and this mystery explore -
Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore;-
"It just froze and nothing more!"

Reload then I hit and waited, the request be circulated,
Nothing changed, hundreds remaining, wondering what to do more.
For we cannot help agreeing that for every human being
that survived the phase of Keaning in the hours just before,
in the long lasting time of The Keaning in the hours just before
we all thought "Oh, Nevermore!"

Retro City, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
on the good old gaming front page teasing us, being a bore.
And its numbers, they are meaning, that this is a phase of Keaning.
Seems that we were overweening, we are punished with one more.
So that now that this is seeming to be the end of this chore,
Quoth The Keaning, "Nevermore!"
That is simply amazing.

CorranHorn: I think people that show passion about games should be rewarded so I recommend everyone that likes Elite-like games to check out Limit Theory on Youtube or Kickstarter, the only game (so far) that I´ve backed that isn´t from a developer I know of. Also if you like Dungeon Keeper there´s another Kickstarter called War for the overlord that has the original narrator in it=).

And finally for all you who liked Syndicate (but didn´t like the new one) there´s a Kickstarter for Satelite Reign, I will get this one when it´s released (Mike Diskett need I say more =)).

I am so looking forward to Elite 4 :)

EX-Deimon: Still don't understand the hate towards Steam. Been using it since 2005 and have never had a single issue since. Possibly the only GOOD kind of "DRM" available.
avatar
Shendue: The point is there's nothing such as a "good" DRM. It's like saying there's "good" daterape. The concept itself doesn't make any sense. DRM are a customer ripoff.
imo there are worse DRM than Steam. Atleast with Steam they offer social services, instant updates and offline mode.

Other forms of DRM like Battle.net where offline is impossible or that cryptic TAGES limited activation crap is imo pure hell.

I mean i prefer DRM Free because when you buy a digital DRM free game you actually own the game, you can easily transfer the file to a DVD or External drive and its yours. Ive been slowly re-buying my Steam games on GoG but Steam isnt the devil like other DRMs.

chances next one is a freebie?..musnt be too many paying attention right now...
Yeah I left when "Don't Starve" still had a bit over 500 copies left.
Now that this thing is just about done, I believe we can finally say we found a game that'd have definitely sold worse not only in a 12-hour flash sale without limited quantities but possibly in a 24-hour one as well. I mean, imagine a fair number took one for the team to get this moving, plus that if all would have been in one list it'd have been buried somewhere way down on any sorting order and obviously not nearly this many would have bothered to look for it.

You sir (or ma'am) win the internets. That is quite amazing and an awesome parody to one of my most favorite Edgar Allen Poe poems.
YAY!!!

RCR is under 10!

Calling Assassin's Creed, La Mulana, and Beyond Good and Evil: Come out come out, wherever you are! Your GOG master is getting impatient for my greenbacks!

Can't be. There was a freebie just before this.

Ill probably get haters for this but, haters gunna hate

DRM in some cases does make sense, when a game has no DRM what tends to happen is it get passed between friends(I'm guilty of this) or pirated on the internetz on which the company and studio who spent so much time and money making the game end up with less profit thanks to people getting it for free. But, but stuff like diablo 3's always online is just not right and is a terrible version of DRM.

Exactly. Hence my term the only "good kind of DRM" i can possibly think of.
