Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

zlep: People keep asking that.

It's just been Don't Starve, Shadow Man, and now Retro City Rampage.

Yes, incredible but true. Be grateful you slept through it.

Faenwulf: Yes, I picked the right time to go to sleep! :D

But I'm really sorry for you poor schmucks. But at least I won my bet that Shadowman (aka Jack Keane 5) will kill the sale completely. How many copies did they sell this time around?
And how long has Keane City Rampage been up?
Actually, Shadow Man was pretty fast paced compared to Don't Starve and RCR, but I haven't been paying attention to the copies sold, so that's the likely reason.

After all, Jack Keane 2 itself roared through it's round 3 outing, because they only released 25 copies. In retrospect, I think they should have released 50, but were afraid of the forum backlash. Then again, I have a soft spot for Jack Keane.

Faenwulf: Man, this thread got empty...time to open up one of the new games I got from this sale.

System Shock 2 or Planescape Torment. Any votes?

yanko44: Both are great.. be careful, you might miss out on freebies :P
Freebies? What is that? ;)
Ah, those things that always show me the bear or say they don't exist...yeah, I had no luck with one of those anyway. :D

JohnnyDollar: So, does anyone regret buying any of the ones on special so far?

I regret getting Two Worlds II. I ignored the mediocre to average reviews that I saw everywhere and bought it on impulse. I could tell within a few minutes that it has low production value. Good thing it was cheap. :P

Briareos262: I have no regrets. I didn't get much because I already had alot of what was on sale. The only one I paid the highest sale for was Don't Starve, have zero regrets there. It was really fun ^_^

oh wait that Eador game, however I love strategies so I'm sure I can get some enjoyment out of it despite the bad reviews.
Maybe so. I think a lot people were ready to throw the devs under the bus after that game was released. :P
Hmmm... promos like this one will surely teach me not to work and live in an another city and without stable internet connection through the week and not to spend the weekends in the hometown with my family... oh wait, I need my work and I like my family. Not interested in this promo.
Good morning/day/night everyone. I've had a good night's sleep and hardly missed anything, so I've read. I've been through the list of games to come, there isn't much I want anymore and am satisfied with what I already bought. Plus my brother-in-law comes for a full day of brothers-in-law-hanging-out-together-without-my-sister-or-kids-for-a-day-of-talking-visting-record-stores-and- buying-vinyl (a word so long it doesn't fit on a scrabble board). So I won't be seeing the sales for a full day and not buy anything more, but it's fun to hang out here once in a while. This thread is often even more fun than the sale itself.

You mean you're *not* prepared to sacrifice your life and family for a cheap computer game?
WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE????
I think I'm done with this sale. Between Jack Keane and now Retro city and all the other Indie games I'm just puckerd out from having to wait hours on end for one game to clear so I might have a chance at getting one I do want. It was a good promo that broke up the same ol' same ol' but not having a timer on each individual promo kind of ruins it. Hopefully they'll have a regular Christmas sale without all this annoyance. As for this one I'm done GoG.
The joke 'Slomo City Rampage' must be somewhere in the last 30-or-so pages while I was sleeping, right?
I will repeat, they need to plan better for these 'slow' games. It ruins the fun of the sale for people to have hours of waiting.

And yes. This thread was fun as hell.

Probably not. I think everyone's brains are too sleep-deprived to produce any pun that doesn't involve the word Keane.

and thats why I have a tendancy to not played freshly released games. Better to wait for patches, heh
By the way, am I the only one who is surprised (and a bit bummed out) that there was no sight of Arcanum in this sale?
I would have probably bought and tried it again. Had it some time ago from a video game magazine, but just couldn't get into the gameplay.
But man do I love Steampunk.
Good morning everyone!

Did I miss Jade Empire?

I'll always be back and yes this thread was one of the best things about this sale. It was probably the most entertaining thing during this sale. especially Jack Keane 2s Night of Infamy :-p
