Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

wackyanne: My dad's kept every computer he's ever bought, and picked up a few here & there over the years. Yes, definite hoarding tendencies... I'd guess the machines all work, but those hundreds of floppies? I doubt there in much shape to play with anymore. Shame, though, because we had so many games, and lots of data too...
avatar
SpiderFighter: I wish I'd kept all my 3.5" floppies from my BBS days. There's shareware I'd love to have again. Plus all my old boxes and manuals. Eventually, I realized I had spent more money to store everything than what I would make if I ever sold them...so I gave away what I could and sent the rest to the dump.

Yeah, I know.
Luckily, most old games, shareware and otherwise, can be found on YouTube... so if you ever need a 'fix' to see an old favorite, that's the place to go to... funny how they often don't live up to one's memories, though. :)
Sigh... I will just take my chances tomorrow.

I figured I was the only one that listened to old radio shows like that, was really surprised when I saw your name, blast from the past

Amsterdamned: 464 RCR left ... I think it's pretty safe to hit the shower.
Yay time for a shower :)
Then getting dressed (to cosplay or not hmmm, it's just Nishicon...)
Well, anyone up for some depressing news?
....
I'll take the collective groaning as a big 'ol YES.
Projection is showing that RCR will finish in roughly 7 hours, 42 minutes, given its current rate of depletion.

Yeah, we're screwed.

richiev333: Good News! GoG is adding a new game to the insomnia sale. It's called: "Paint Dry"

Let's all watch it sell !!!!!
Don't forget Grass Grow, and the sequel Paint Dry 2: Dry Harder.
I don't understand why Retro City Rampage is such a slow seller. It took a long time to go yesterday and the same thing right now. Really solid title from what I've played and one of the few "retro" parodies that actually pulls it off well.

Anyway I caught Septerra Core earlier and bought that. Still waiting for Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic and Nexus to show up (which I'm sure they did, several times, and I missed all of them because unfortunately my day couldn't fit any room to sit in front of the computer all day =(

I listened to it on Satellite radio about 10 years ago. That was the first I had ever heard of it. Not a bad show, really.

Yeah, same here, XM radio, one of my favorites actually, "The man with the action packed expense account", haven't listened in years unfortunately, one of the last places I thought I'd be reminded of it was Gog.com
Doesn't help that the Humble store actually had a better deal on RCR all yesterday and this morning. This was a great sale overall, but things need to be adjusted so that this doesn't happen again in the future.

If certain games are moving slowly in the second round, we don't need twice as many copies in the 3rd.
