Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Deva: Things are moving so fast, especially these days, it's easy for anyone to lose touch with the times. I've been a bit of a hoarder when it comes to my computers though... the only one that I sold was an Apple IIe.... because I needed the money to buy an Amiga 1000. I pre-ordered one in 1985, and it's still working and is sitting on a desk just a couple computers away from me. Unfortunately though, the 40MB hard drive I bought for it died long ago... it's incredible how much a 40 MB hard drive cost in those days... $980! Now you can get a terabyte for under $100. :-/

wackyanne: My dad's kept every computer he's ever bought, and picked up a few here & there over the years. Yes, definite hoarding tendencies... I'd guess the machines all work, but those hundreds of floppies? I doubt there in much shape to play with anymore. Shame, though, because we had so many games, and lots of data too...
It's amazing how long my floppies have lasted... every one I tried on my Amiga earlier this year, actually still worked, and the newest ones are over 20 years old. I've kept them all carefully stored away though, so maybe that made some difference. Of course, I immediately made some backup copies on new floppies of my Kickstart and Workbench disks, since those are definitely needed to get the Amiga started. ;)

Limblessk9: I JUST WANT SOME FUCKING GAMES, MAN! I'M GOING CRAZY!
Go on vacation, I guess we get to the next game in 2014...

CarHaru: We have to be breaking at least some sort of record... something....
Maybe we are breaking the record for most uses of the name Jack Keane or just Keane in a single thread?
avatar
CarHaru: You know what is funny... I was planning on playing the new games I bought over the weekend..... but that means I might miss out on this one game I still have left.... so my plans instantly changed to waiting for that 1 game. Sigh.....
Maybe it'll come quick by chance. Which one is it?
I actually already played inquisitor, sacred and space colony hd during long waits :P
*yawn* Well, I'm going to bed. I think the only game I want that's left is Shelter. If anyone buys an extra for-the-team copy, I'd appreciate one!

G'night!!

I've got the web browser on my tablet on the GOG.com front page to watch when the sales are about to turn over, so that I can continue to do other stuff in the meantime.
Good News! GoG is adding a new game to the insomnia sale. It's called: "Paint Dry"

Let's all watch it sell !!!!!
