Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

gscotti: I just submitted "keaning" to the Urban Dictionary. It's under review now - fingers crossed XD

Shendue: It's a new measure unit, "the Keane", which express the amount of time you spend doing something boring.
A whole day of study at school is gonna be 5 Keanes. A full work day at your workplace is 10 Keanes. Blocked in traffic is 2 Keanes.
Well, the time of Keane lasted about five hours. So I believe that's how great it's measured- if it is considered a unit of measurement at all! The official verdict is still out on it.

Fictionvision: Considering how fast Shadow Man is going (Who btw isn't the real Shadow Man, he came in the Mega Man game after my avatar) I would like someone to help me make a decision and pick a number, either 1 or 2.
1

Because it's a prime decision.

Selinea: Actually, Keane's first round was for 50, and that was somewhat slow, but they didn't really adjust numbers in the second round and just flat out doubled all the titles that had low numbers, and that second round of 100 was what led to the five hour debacle.

GoG should still learn from Don't Starve though, in that classics don't suffer from market saturation (NWN2 still went super fast), but modern games will.
avatar
wackyanne: I'm wrong about the round? But it was the first night... Wednesday night. Right? Or am I really that sleep deprived??? I missed at least the last round.
Yeah, the second round started that first night because the first round as whole went by pretty fast. (Because the first round, for the most part, had low numbers for everything except the for-sure popular stuff, and no market saturation had set in yet)

Round 3 is taking forever...

shadowknight2814: Going by the sale time of, 5.5 hours? for Kean for the 100 copies on the second day:

7 hours at school=1.27 Keans
8 hours at work=1.45 Keans
1 hours in traffic-.1818 Keans
Exactly!

Two it is then.
EDIT: Nevermind, it already was one.

Someone should make shirts saying "I survived the Keaning."

Yeah, that scale seems somewhat less arbitrary then mine. Still think that the Keaning was over NINE THOUSAAAAAAAND Keans, tho.

tobias683: If that is the basis of measurement then just exactly how many Keans was the Keaning?
avatar
gscotti: You mean the original keaning? Because now keaning will become (hopefully) a generic word, so other keanings exist, too.

The original keaning, IMHO, should be the yardstick - ONE keaning!
I'm confused....are we measuring distance or time?

CorranHorn: Anyone played Tron 2.0 by Monolith ?
avatar
ALH: Yeah.Been awhile but i remember enjoying it.Think Tron aficionados should have a good time with it!
They really did catch what I liked about the first movie, the second one was ok but not on par with the first one,
Wasn't Shadow Man on the Dreamcast? I seem to recall playing it on that.... but too many games over the decades is clouding my memory...

Thank you and stan. Your number was posted first so 1 it is!

I was trying to decide what to bring home for dinner tomorrow. 1 was for chicken and 2 was for pizza

Chicken it is!
I'd prefer to support GOG, but that Brutal Legend on humbles store is tempting....
I think I fell asleep through part of it. I woke up and Keane was still there. It was like a nightmare...
:P

I have. I think it was made with Unreal 2 or something along those lines. I remember I enjoyed it though I think it had some control issues ( I think there was too much platforming). Overall it was worth the 5-10$ I paid for it.

According to some interpretations of special relativity, the two are interchangeable.
