Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

McDon: I'm surprised Retro City Rampage is a slow burner...
avatar
ALH: Think someone said that Retro City has already been available even cheaper elsewhere.
I got it in a humble bundle for $1 and thought I overpaid for it.
If I had to wait Don't Starve and the others "Jack Keane sequels" to sold out before even sleeping or eating, I would have starved to death and became the Shadow Man in the main page right now.

Captain_Picard: Want to listen to some great OSTs GOG to past the time?
http://virt.bandcamp.com/
You can pay what you want (including nothing) for some top quality sound tracks.
Nice find!!. thanks :)
Wow, Shadow Man has really slowed down.

Oh well. Back to my Deadliest Catch marathon on Netfilx.

Its available on the Humble store for $4.99.

nijuu: Thanks guys

Looks like the possible slow burners left

Omerta
Strike Suit Zero
Retro City Rampage
Cognition (people forget this is for all four games)
Wargame
LSL (please dont put up 1000 copies again)
nijuu, I think we got rid of Strike Suit Zero already and, if my memory serves me right, it actually sold pretty fast. Then again, I've been here for so long, I might be mistaking it for something else.

WillOfD: I think Don't Starve just defeated Keane's record. :(

wackyanne: You, sir, clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

Overall, Don't Starve sold almost 30 times faster than Jack Keane - and that is averaged over the _WHOLE_ round. And Don't Starve's first 400-500 copies actually sold at a really good clip. Then the market was fairly saturated, hence another two and a half hours for the rest...

Jack Keane's First round was for 100 copies (not 1200) and lasted FIVE HOURS!!! not merely 3 and a bit...
I was just thinking about the time it took, not the copies. I'm also a Keane survivor (1st and 2nd run). I lost track of time. I thought more than 5 hours has passed since I went to office for a weekend workshop, took a lunchbreak then see "Don't Starve" still on sale.

Since it hasn't been up yet I am going to toss in a good review for Primordia, if you haven't played it. I got it in the second round and I am mostly done with it now. The story isn't as good as The Blackwell series but the game play is good. It is the best game out of Wadjet Eye in regards to gameplay..

So if you like point and click adventure games with some decent puzzles thrown in you cannot go wrong at this price.
Let's all say what we want next!!!!
Maybe the staff is watching this thread!!!!

I want in order of importance:
Planescape: Torment
Neverwinter nights Diamond

Bonshea: Is 'Kean' now this forums new official term of measurement for a overly long period of time a game has been on sale?

Examples: "I can't believe don't starve was almost a whole Keane." And. " I sure hope Omerta isn't next. That'll surely be at least a Keane and a half."
It's not a time measurement per se, it is GOG-ish wording for state of your brain when it was overflowed with unexpected time interval. So "a Keane and a half" doesn't make more sense than time in light years. You can't buff infinity.

SpiderFighter: Wow, Shadow Man has really slowed down.

Oh well. Back to my Deadliest Catch marathon on Netfilx.
Not to spoil anything but:
They get crabs in the next episode.

Khaleesia87: If I had to wait Don't Starve and the others "Jack Keane sequels" to sold out before even sleeping or eating, I would have starved to death and became the Shadow Man in the main page right now.
So you aren't the Shadow Man? I was going to ask for your autograph!

PincushionMan: Is it too late for Rogue Legacy?
For this sale, yes.
Come onnn fast sales :)
avatar
Velkyn: So, is it just me, or is this sale infinitely more exciting than anything the Steam sale has pulled out in the last little while?
avatar
RandomJC: No Idea. I've only dipped my toe in Steam, mostly because I like the DRM Free stuff that means I can play games while trapped in a bus station.
Trapped in a bus station..,. Are we talking stuck due to bad weather, or stuck due to zombie apocalypse? If the first, off-line mode will probably take care of you. If the second, you have bigger problems, due to the steam servers being shut down after Valve gets eaten by zombies.
