Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

thorton70: Bought one, dropped it to 126....let's move this along. The art looks great, I don't know how much fun I'll have in a survival game that doesn't involve guns and zombies, but I'll give it a shot.
It is not without its combat challenges. Those spiders are vicious beasts.

CarrionCrow: Right now, I actually feel bad for the people who make Jack Keane. I've never played it, can't say whether it's good, bad, bland or awesome. The only thing it got out of this sale ultimately was a boatload of people cursing it like a digital plague because of the sales delay.

gscotti: Indeed, this promo ended up hurting the Jack Keane brand.

I have no idea how GOG and the Jack Keane 2 publisher will square things after this, but I guarantee, some unpleasant discussions will be had.
Oh man, I'd hate to be involved in that conversation! They really ought to have built in some safeties, like kicking to the next game if it bogged down too badly.

LOL I hope so. I seriously bought it because the art reminds of those dark Disney movies with that guy Tim something. Feels like I'd be playing in some acid trip horror movie which seems fun lol

I imagine there'll be quite a bit of repeating that this is a first-time experimental exercise and that they couldn't anticipate such dramatic lulls in product flow.

nijuu: I dont know what the devs thought when they came and saw all the comments during its stagnation. Hardly GOGs fault priced the way it was. People weren't really bashing the game in thread either (as far as i remember).
The pricing is, I guess, what the publisher wanted, but the way the promo was formatted was GOG's.
You are right, there was no bashing of the game, as far as I could also see, but there was/is an implied sense of crappiness.
We are close to the 3h 30min mark.

Yeah, totally crazy that they didn't think of this? WTF?!

It had not so glowing reviews (until people started posting hilarious ones to try to up the rating so it would sell) but overall I think it was the price that put people off buying it.
I can't imagine the folks behind the Jack Keane game will be too upset. I'm pretty sure the # of their games sold in these past few days far outweighs the # they won't be selling due to the bad press. I haven't played the game myself, so I can't say about this, but if it was a mediocre game to begin with, then this sale really only helped them because it forced people into buying it when they wouldn't have otherwise!
