Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Akoperu: As hard as you want it to be, the difficulty is entirely customable and it is solely mouse driven at the exception of the space bar.
I really loved this game, put something like 60 hours into it :)

saruchan: In fact, you can fine-tune almost any major parameter when you start a new game. That's another thing I adore about it -- there's built-in support for making things both easier and harder, even both at the same time, and there's no overt or subtle judgement of the player involved. It's quite accessible and it's also great to be able to start new games that adjust little bits of things to help you learn. Too many spiders eating you? Turn their numbers down for a few games! Not enough mysterious ground tentacles hitting you in the head? Make there be more!
Wow, didn't know that. Again, I thank you for your comment.

RighteousNixon: Between Eador, Keane and now Stave, I think the total time for those 3 games is up around 8-9 hours now. Anyone who thinks they shouldn't use a time limit is crazy. These long waits just totally kill the overall momentum and excitement of the sale. If a game doesn't sell out in 30-60 minutes, it should be axed.
Why would they add a time limit to something that is selling? From a customer standpoint, these are much needed breaks. From GoG's standpoint, they are going to be sold, so why hurry? Because a couple people are complaining? Copies are still being sold so that makes them a vocal minority.
If Jack Keane doesn't get a timer, NOBODY GETS A TIMER.

Well they could make $5 per minute or $5000 per minute ...

Just a thought.

240 copies left. This is getting crazy. Quick! Everyone buy a copy for every 'friend' you have on facebook!
OH, I get it now. Don't Starve was put up there to remind people to eat something, in case they haven't during the entire sale.

GOG really cares about its customers (when they have reached the brink of starvation). Thanks, GOG!
I wish that GOG would keep this thread up for at least a while, along with some very funny comments there are lot of really good , concise posts about games I would like to be able to read again when my eyes were not falling out of my head. Dear GOG, can you make that happen ?
Wow I made it to lvl 10 in torchlight on hard difficulty and I decided to take a break.. to see that it's still on Don't Starve.. well I think it just usurped JK2.. it's a game on survival.. but who know we need to survive it's sell.. LOL

Hardly. It took 4.5 hours to sell 100 copies of Keane.

EDIT:
And I was there for it all. The horror...the horror.

Ah well, got to put the kids to bed, throw the dishes in the sink, find my book, get comfortable and in a few hours the starvation game will go away.
This one moves at least. That Jack Keane crap was just painful. You look, it's the same, you do something else then come back, it's the same. People wanted to throw a damn party every single time a copy was gone. Absolutely nuts.

gscotti: You forgot Rise of the Triad.

BillyMaysFan59: And the Blackwell Bundle :)
Indeed.

*facepalm*

With a limited stock sale, they get the same amount of money at the end. It doesn't matter to them whether they make that money faster or slower. It's not like people aren't buying what they normally would just because this sale is also going on (in which case, then you'd want the sale to go by faster so they can get the extra sales push and sales for other games). It's like saying, hey, I'd rather have $15,000 today and then no money for the next two days rather than $5,000 every day for three days. It's the same amount of money. GoG doesn't benefit if things sell faster.

Also, if they just got rid of the stock on a timer before the stock was actually out, they're actually taking a "loss". (Although since GoG itself didn't buy these games in a per unit fashion, they wouldn't actually be losing anything.) Would you like to earn $5,000 every day for three days or would you rather earn $10,000 today and no money the next two days?
