Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Schemilix: All this talk of timers makes no sense. GOG.com want to sell those copies. It's money for them - skipping copies that eventually get sold is just silly. Quit whinin' and go read a book or something.
avatar
Dreadjaws: Except that if those games hadn't stalled the sale for hours each, they would have sold many more copies of games people actually wanted to buy.
No, since they're doing a set number of games. So, not really.
avatar
nijuu: So a time limited like many have suggested would fix that? :P
avatar
Palidor12: No, as I suggested in my earlier post, they could have offered ALL copies of ALL the games on sale at the beginning of the promo instead of breaking them into chunks spread over however many days, and just continued to sell them until the stock ran out.
So i assume ur no fan of the way Steam does it either in their sales?

cj13810: Im done buying any more games unless "divine divinity dragon comander" comes on
That one's already had its third run.

That's already gone.

Soccorro: Oh my god... Is that the order? I'm so screwed.
avatar
dedoporno: Well, let's hope it's not, but those swamp offers are still lurking for their last chance to devour our already tired souls :)
Man I already hate myself for being up until now.
Since we're all waiting for the next game to roll around. I do have the following for trade:

Populous: The Beginning
Reus
Deus Ex GOTY Edition
Masters of Orion 1+2
Blackwell Bundle
System Shock 2
Startopia
Neverwinter Nights 2
Don't Starve

I am needing the following:

Alpha Centauri
Theme Hospital
Thief Gold
Thief 2: Metal Age
Thief 3: Deadly Shadows
Tomb Raider 1+2+3
Ultima 7 The Complete Ed.
Is the latest list accurate? Did i really miss NWN2 again? :/

Chandoraa: What the...?! Didn't you guys all say you were raving about getting this one? Or were you just trolling? -_-'

xenxander: That was 600 purchases ago.

They over-estimated the number needed. I was hoping they only would put up 450
they over estimate the number on indie games & obscure older games like Shadowman

I've actually never bought a game from Steam, and don't know how they run their sales. I only have Steam installed because I purchased a hard copy of The Last Remnant, and I had to install Steam to run it.

What are their sales like? I gather from your comment that they are similar to this promo...

cj13810: Im done buying any more games unless "divine divinity dragon comander" comes on
You already missed Dragon Commander.
avatar
nijuu: So what do you reckon were the top 10 slowest movers?
avatar
groze: This is not based on overall performance, but rather on stalling almost to a halt on specific rounds:

10. Strike Suit Zero (had a rough round 2)
9. Chaos Engine (pretty rough 'Last Chance')
8. Don't Starve (this 'Last Chance' could place it high above on the list, but it already had slow sales once before)
7. Nexus (had a pretty rough round 2)
6. Divinity: Dragon Commander
5. Book of Unwritten Tales (kinda stalled in its 'Last Chance')
4. Eador (see BOUT)
3. Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded (OH MY GOD!)
2. Omerta: City of Gangsters (only The Keanegate beats the endurance of the Omerta Trial)
1. Jack Keane 2 (undoubtedly!)
didn't you forget Rise of the Triad? In my opinion it had its trouble getting sold, too.

Nolerion: Is the latest list accurate? Did i really miss NWN2 again? :/
All 2100 copies :/
avatar
Xabyer_B: Take it easy, just choose one and play to the end. One by One.
avatar
CorranHorn: I wouldn´t recommend Planescape Torment, that one requires a lot of reading and should not be played if you are tired, like I am=). I do agree to just playing one at a time even though I far to often play many games at the same time.
I don't want to play nothing now. I just want to buy Thief 1 and 2 offers and go to sleep.

Respect Planescape, I have D&D Anthology boxed edition. I will play in Spanish applying a translation, so I will not have reading problems. But in a future, I have not decided at the moment when I will play the game. First I have to play Fallout Trilogy. (Yes my boxed edition again). It's ready to play in my Pemtium 4 3.0 GHz with XP and a 4:3 monitor. (I don't play classics games in this pc).

I forgot about that. I thought Nexus would have done ok?. LSL even at 1000 looked ok to me too..

So do I :) It's 3:30AM here, my wife has been sleeping for 4 hours now and I'm just sitting here (not Spider-man meme style ;) ) and waiting for PS:T and BG1...
