Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Palidor12: Mostly I don't enjoy the waiting part... waiting for the game you want to show up, waiting for the slow moving titles to FINALLY go away. Ugh, like right now!

True, I don't HAVE to participate in the promo, but it is hard to pass up buying the games you want at a 75 or 80% discount...

nijuu: So a time limited like many have suggested would fix that? :P
No, as I suggested in my earlier post, they could have offered ALL copies of ALL the games on sale at the beginning of the promo instead of breaking them into chunks spread over however many days, and just continued to sell them until the stock ran out.

If someone wants to gift me Don't Starve, that'll make it go by faster...
Business-wise, I think this one of the best sales on GOG. I dare say this sale saw more copies of Jack Keane 2 sold than every other sale on this site so far. A lot of people buying games that they would never have bought under different circumstances. Clever, very clever.
Sigh, 600+ copies left and yet I can't stop looking over at my second monitor. It's like I think they will just disappear in seconds... Or at least I wish they would..

Soccorro: tried sleeping and it didnt work. So is it possible to skip dont starve if noone buys it anymore?
avatar
Buenro-games: nope, GOG said they must be sold, so best to feed yourself and not starve while you wait, you Kean't do much about it.
This offer will dry up not too long from now. I'm far more concerned about Omerta, Hotline Miami and some other slogs...
I think they over estimated how many "Don't Starve" games were in demand....

caledhel: Jack Keane 2 in round 2 is the one everybody is talking about. That took 4 and a half hours.
avatar
Johnmourby: Ah round 2. I wasn't to surprised for that as took so long in round one and all the people who wanted it would have had lots of time to get it in round one. I'm pretty sure the Keane jokes predated round 2.
It was pretty bad in round one. When it popped up in round 2 everyone knew it was going to be bad.

Schemilix: All this talk of timers makes no sense. GOG.com want to sell those copies. It's money for them - skipping copies that eventually get sold is just silly. Quit whinin' and go read a book or something.
Except that if those games hadn't stalled the sale for hours each, they would have sold many more copies of games people actually wanted to buy.

Oh my god... Is that the order? I'm so screwed.
Im done buying any more games unless "divine divinity dragon comander" comes on
avatar
nijuu: So what do you reckon were the top 10 slowest movers?
avatar
groze: This is not based on overall performance, but rather on stalling almost to a halt on specific rounds:

10. Strike Suit Zero (had a rough round 2)
9. Chaos Engine (pretty rough 'Last Chance')
8. Don't Starve (this 'Last Chance' could place it high above on the list, but it already had slow sales once before)
7. Nexus (had a pretty rough round 2)
6. Divinity: Dragon Commander
5. Book of Unwritten Tales (kinda stalled in its 'Last Chance')
4. Eador (see BOUT)
3. Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded (OH MY GOD!)
2. Omerta: City of Gangsters (only The Keanegate beats the endurance of the Omerta Trial)
1. Jack Keane 2 (undoubtedly!)
Nexus round 2 wasn't that slow if I remember well...

Well, let's hope it's not, but those swamp offers are still lurking for their last chance to devour our already tired souls :)
i really like this sale format, it's funny to be here at the forum, talking about Don't Keane and all that stuff.

But needs to be improved for slow games...
What the...?! Didn't you guys all say you were raving about getting this one? Or were you just trolling? -_-'

That was 600 purchases ago.

They over-estimated the number needed. I was hoping they only would put up 450
