Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Elinnea: I kind of want to try Geneforge, but it might be better to wait for a bigger chunk of time on that one. My complete impulse buy was Book of Unwritten Tales, maybe I should try it out and see if I feel buyer's remorse or not. :P

Cruin: Hahaha, you know what I almost picked Geneforge to play as well but then came to the same conclusion.
High five, comrade in gaming! :D

dedoporno: I believe the Chaos Engine got its last run a few hours ago, but not 100% sure
I've been regularly posting updates and Choas Engine has indeed come and gone.

Was I imagining things, because I could have sworn people hungered for this game, waiting for it to come on sale?

Or did those 500 people get fed, bringing this sale to a screeching halt?
Anyone with an Shelter gift code that's willing to trade so that I can get some sleep this night?

Palidor12: I love a good promo as much as anyone, but this one seems to be DRAGGING on forever.

And as I write this, the sale has yet again been brought to a near screeching halt by 1200 copies of Don't Starve...
Few things go smoothly on their first role-outs...
Someone feed that Don't Starve dude so he can crawl back to his cave and let the sale continue. Time for THIEF, Gog.
avatar
mondo84: Total raised when Don't Starve is done will be $256,695.35.
avatar
nijuu: Wow.Thanks for that :)
Meh. I should use this kind of marketing with my business.
Only 700 more to go!
avatar
Palidor12: Instead of selling each game in installments and waiting until a particular game has sold out before listing the next one (as we've all seen what an unpopular game can do to the pace of the sale), why not have listed all 101 games with the total number of copies available? That way people could buy all the games they want at once (provided it was still in stock), and we wouldn't have had to suffer numerous rounds of Jack Keane, Eador, etc. or sleep deprivation because you have no idea what title is coming up after the current one is sold.
Because then key traders would buy all of them before half of us would even know about the sale.

groze: You're definitely not talking about the same Jack Keane 2 sale. Jack Keane 2 took 5 hours to sell, I shit you not. It stalled at 83 for at least 45 minutes.

You're probably talking about another round.
avatar
Johnmourby: Well I've been following this sale since the start, only really breaking for eating and sleeping (I have no life, sob) More for the fun of it than to buy games.
And Keane in round 1 didn't seem much longer than Don't Starve (Like I said, I was able to tidy my room), just more painful because it was such a small number of copies.
I dunno, maybe those 5 hour just flew for me.
Jack Keane 2 in round 2 is the one everybody is talking about. That took 4 and a half hours.
Can't wait for Thief 2 any longer. It was good everyone, I'm heading out :)

Nabbed Thief 1, SS2, Myst, and NWN 2, and managed to be one of the forty to pick up Miasmata for nothin'.

Xabyer_B: Take it easy, just choose one and play to the end. One by One.
avatar
CorranHorn: I wouldn´t recommend Planescape Torment, that one requires a lot of reading and should not be played if you are tired, like I am=). I do agree to just playing one at a time even though I far to often play many games at the same time.
Well, I just got off work and finished drinking a Redline so I think my body is ready for quite a bit of reading. But thanks for the tip. I haven't even started playing yet still reading the manual.

I think the publisher's offices closed like 2 hours ago.
I missed System Shock 2 yet again? Wow.
By my calculations this should take about an hour if not more.
I'll go taking a small nap.
