Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Johnmourby: Question: why do DnD games sell so well round these parts? I get why Plainscape and Baulder's Gate sell so well they're very famous games. But all the DnD games are huge sellers. Famous or not.
avatar
Takatori: Tis a good question, one I'm not sure of. Maybe it's just the DnD tag to it? Whether they become famous or not, they sell really big and I think it's the DnD tag + hype for it.

My first DnD game was Hillsfar followed by Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds, The Krynn games etc, and when you get these sort of games updated further and further the anticipation is quite high I think.

DnD have a massive backing of fans as I'm sure everyone knows, whether it's table top or PC games. I honestly think it's the DnD tag, kinda like CoD games, they sell well because they are Call of Duty, but they aren't exactly the be all end all, if you get my meaning.
That's what I think anyway :)
I suppose you could be right. But I'd have thought the number of DnD PC gamers would be greatly outnumbered by "regular" PC gamers.

JudasIscariot: Someone had to keep them busy :P

No you need to buy 20 copies of the very popular Rise of the Mag Keane Runner

I bought Pool of Radiance for the PC back in the day but never opened and installed it. It's just sitting, collecting dust...
whats still left to go?
BAH, Keanerunner still?

C'mon man....damn.
Someone needs to poke DarkMoment and tell him to read his PM.

Faenwulf: I started with an orkish bear shaman of the nrodic tradition who is part of a Go-Gang (Like the rest of the team) in the German Rhein-Rhur-Megaplex.

Really funny cruising around on Harleys and stealign stuff. :D

Schemilix: Mine were more towards white on the grey scale of morality in Shadowrun... That said the guy who decided to train a basically four year old elf to shoot more dakka probably had issues.
Well, we played WH40k Dark Heresy before that and were more or less "white" guys (as good as that is possible with 40k), so we decided to go more into the dark grey part. Wet Work as such is still mostly out of the question tough.
Never had any regrets ever. ;)

MGShogun: Hmm, according to my email, I got BG2 at 8:36 pm, pst.
avatar
Alien8n: Sounds about right, the list at that time was saying

Sniper Elite
BG2
Sniper Elite (free)
Unwritten Tales

was posted around page 600 :/
I also scooped up Mighty and Magic 6 pack after BG2. I was so shocked but I was lucky to get it.

ErekoseDM: whats still left to go?
Jack Keane 2 followed by Jack Keane 2 which will be followed by Jack Keane 2 again
we should hit the 20000 before nwn2 appears
Will Blade Runner ever be added to gog? I have the discs, but don't trust anyone to have them for any period of time anymore.

This game is in my whishlist, but I haven't 10$ now, as most 4-5$ to Thief 1 & 2.

DukeDuvel: Ok, food for thought.

How in the blazes are people (myself including) staring at a screen to get 5-6 dollars discount (which gets another 30% off through currency difference in most european countries) for a friggin day or longer? While putting those hours into a job (even a deadend one) will net you multiple times the saves your trying to make?!

I mean, it's not like NWN is suddenly unavailable?! It just saves you... let's say 15 bucks. I make a lot more in an hour! What could it be? Is it.... this newfound community for me?

..
I sometimes like to get good deals just for the sake of getting them, especially with games. Plus I think GOG pulled off a neat promo here and it's been fun. I'm sure there's been a lot of impulse buying, sales that normally wouldn't happen.

There's been a few irritants, but I think the good outweighs the bad. I would like to see GOG take this experience, refine it a little, and do it again.
