Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

avatar
Cruin: I'm right there with you I'm still waiting for some others as well..
I've lost track.... I also don't think I've showered for 24 hours.... Oh well, that's college.... (at least for me!)

Xiko91: Yeah but nowadays DLC is in every major title.
avatar
Thruggsen: But that's because of Steam. Without the easy delivery/monetisation system Steam provides, developers wouldn't make so much of it because they wouldn't be able to sell it. They'd save it up for a single expansion or let people d/l it free, like they used to and like GoG does.
It's not Steam... it's the console model. DLC really does work on consoles, so people often keep it in their games for PC. For devs that are more sensitive to the opinions of the PC market, the PC version is often a GOTY version that includes all the DLC and is released later.

I don't know about that. I mean, it's the developers choice to make a small pack or an expansion.

nijuu: What potential slow burners are left?. Retro City Rampage, Cognition,Wargame (depending on quantities i guess)
I recall Hotline Miami seeming like it took forever before.

jasperline: I feel a little sad inside, I got:
[shitload of games]

mantarrochen: Thats odd. Usually consuming leads to euphoria. Anyway once you start playing these games your mood will improve. :)
I don't find it odd. The feeling of money being torn out of your virtual wallet is excruciating. The payoff is *usually* worth it (here, almost definitely), but it starts painful.
avatar
Johnmourby: What I miss between Torchlight and now?
Nothing

avatar
Cardian: That's highly unlikely since he didn't get Jack Keane 2, saviour of humankind.
In order to make up for that maybe he should score a copy of the BlackKeane Bundle. :D

I just couldn't justify 11$ on it, when I can wait until it's cheaper. I also used that time as a reason to sleep xD
avatar
acarlson412: I've been sitting here waiting for Startopia to pop up again. Figures that when I decided I wanted to buy it, it had just gone by. So now I've been sitting here through all the Keanes and shit just to spend $1.50. With my luck it'll be the last game on sale.

nijuu: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/special_promo_fall_insomnia_promo/post15276

Look at all the games left and decide beforehand. Because of the higher numbers generally u have a good chance to get the games u want. ...well except freebies...
Well yeah I've already decided I want Startopia. I'm not worried about missing it, I just want it to come up so I can buy it and stop watching the sale so much, ya feel me? At least this thread is entertaining while I wait.
avatar
DCT: nope Chaos engine has come and gone.
avatar
Boilpoint: Exactly. gogbot has it in their list of games that are still left to come.
Fixed.
avatar
mantarrochen: *robot voice*
Donate $100 now. Execute.
avatar
UncleOvid: Only if Cruin paid $5 for each of those. How much did you pay for all that, Cruin? $50? $60?
About $58, so I got the majority of them for $1.50 - $2 with a few more expensive titles. All in all I still feel like this is has been a good sale. Must buy more *twitch*...
avatar
Briareos262: well bllizzard is getting rid of auction house in march which would help slightly. Granted the whole AH should have never been there to begin with. Thats a whole other can of worms I'd rather not get into.......I could also rant on always online DRM too for that, especially for single player mode. I won't tho. It just is what it is unfortunately. =(
avatar
UncleOvid: By all means, rant. Better that than resignation. Keeping it up until you get used to it is how the distributors win.
It's just a small comment. There are plenty of other Blizz fanboys or former fanboys complaining about D3 on various PC forums still im sure =)

Boilpoint: Exactly. gogbot has it in their list of games that are still left to come.

gogbot: Fixed.
how many games passed since the last freebie?
avatar
Kaitu: 82. Syberia $1.99
avatar
Boilpoint: Syberia's already come and gone I think.

avatar
gogbot: *snip*
avatar
Boilpoint: You still have Chaos Engine in your games left to come
Oops... That it has. Good catch.
avatar
Captain_Picard: It still does not justify that the PS3 and PS4 release will not require an internet connection for the single player game while the PC release does require it.
avatar
Briareos262: I can't agree more. I still hold out some hope it will be patched eventually where one can play Diablo 3 offline someday..... I could probably even stomach the online part a bit better if it didn't go through maintenance every freaking week for 8 or so hours like WoW does =(
Yeah, it breaks the immersion a player has in the game and makes the game unreliable.
