Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Xiko91: Yeah but nowadays DLC is in every major title.
But that's because of Steam. Without the easy delivery/monetisation system Steam provides, developers wouldn't make so much of it because they wouldn't be able to sell it. They'd save it up for a single expansion or let people d/l it free, like they used to and like GoG does.

Cruin: My bought list..

I have no willpower..

Donate $100 now. Execute.
Only if Cruin paid $5 for each of those. How much did you pay for all that, Cruin? $50? $60?

Lemon_Curry: Can I expect 'Thief 3: Deadly Shadows' to run flawlessly in Windows 8 64bit?

Seeing the most recent review I'm somewhat hesitant to pick up a copy...
Windows 8 is a poorly optimized OS for games, especially games that were released for older OS's. there might be a few patches online to fix it if you do buy it, but I cannot guarantee that.

[shitload of games]
Thats odd. Usually consuming leads to euphoria. Anyway once you start playing these games your mood will improve. :)

Briareos262: well bllizzard is getting rid of auction house in march which would help slightly. Granted the whole AH should have never been there to begin with. Thats a whole other can of worms I'd rather not get into.......I could also rant on always online DRM too for that, especially for single player mode. I won't tho. It just is what it is unfortunately. =(
avatar
Captain_Picard: It still does not justify that the PS3 and PS4 release will not require an internet connection for the single player game while the PC release does require it.
I can't agree more. I still hold out some hope it will be patched eventually where one can play Diablo 3 offline someday..... I could probably even stomach the online part a bit better if it didn't go through maintenance every freaking week for 8 or so hours like WoW does =(
Damn you GoG!
Just bought like 5 games for no reason ... This countdown line thingy is some kind of sorcery!

Knofbath: The guy who said he got almost all the freebies had a ping of 24, a lot of the Germans seem to be getting average results with ~50-60ms pings. United States and Canada are both 100-150ms, and only a few of us have been getting lucky this sale.
avatar
jpwiseguy: I'm on a 100mb connection (United States), and getting a consistent 2 - 6ms ping time to gog.com. I've been sitting here for the majority of sales, only breaking to sleep 6 hours. I click instantly when I see a freebie, before I even see what it is, and I have won nothing, zero.

Not that I really care about getting freebies, I have money to spend on stuff I want. Just sayin....
I really doubt your ping is that low. That's the kind of ping I get to my local ISP...

CarrionCrow: I wasn't complaining about Steam there. That was me just bitching about the feeling of incompleteness that game has when it has so many other parts, some of them pretty integral to full enjoyment in my opinion, that you have to pay more and more and more money for. Comparatively, I don't ever buy a game from GOG and think to myself, "God, now I have to shell out X amount extra just to feel like I'm not paying for a partial experience.
Looking at the two, it's a pretty big motivator for me to be here buying these games, rather than being there and digging through all of that.
avatar
Xiko91: Yeah but nowadays DLC is in every major title. Normally Steam sells the full pack with DLC when doing sales. I got Magicka with a bunch of DLC for like $10 on sales.
I know it is, I just like the feeling of simplicity. Complete game, one price, done. Not kinda-sorta complete game with ten chunks to come later, or in the case of something like ME 3, incomplete game, add chunks later so maybe it doesn't make you want to throw something. lol.

That's highly unlikely since he didn't get Jack Keane 2, saviour of humankind.
What I miss between Torchlight and now?

..other than playing them someday and having a blast doing so. :D
avatar
Captain_Picard: It is not worth it, the PS4 or PS3 version will be better than the PC release.

By all means, rant. Better that than resignation. Keeping it up until you get used to it is how the distributors win.
