Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

CarrionCrow: You know what's striking me as really great about GOG right now?
No DLC.
By comparison, I went on Steam and took a look at Borderlands 2. They have DLC for everything except getting your ass hair dyed a different color, and it's absolutely infuriating for someone that wants to feel like they have a "complete" version of the game. You don't have to worry about that crap here.
avatar
Xiko91: Seriously? You can't compare GOG with Steam with a game that GOG doesn't even have like Borderlands 2. For the whole DLC thing you should complain to the developers of the game, not Steam. I bet that if GOG had Borderlands 2 they would have DLC as well.
A fair assessment, but I can understand his sentiment.

Cardian: Blackwell Bundle for 3 bucks is actually a great deal. I really enjoyed the series.
avatar
Shendue: Is it? I took a look at the comments and most people praise the game atmosphere and design, but also point out that the puzzles are easy and short. I've been playing adventures since the very first King's Quest, so i find most of the new ones just too easy and quick to solve.
trust me, there is enough content to hold you for quite a while. Also the two main leads gel well together so thats always a plus.

silentp263: Does anyone know if Diablo 3 for console is worth getting compared to PC?
avatar
Captain_Picard: It is not worth it, the PS4 or PS3 version will be better than the PC release.
well bllizzard is getting rid of auction house in march which would help slightly. Granted the whole AH should have never been there to begin with. Thats a whole other can of worms I'd rather not get into.......I could also rant on always online DRM too for that, especially for single player mode. I won't tho. It just is what it is unfortunately. =(

BastienN: What do you mean?
I did the test via cmd btw

Ungunbu: i meant in the javascript - anyway it's cheating so i won't tell u how to do that
Still don't understand ..

acarlson412: I've been sitting here waiting for Startopia to pop up again. Figures that when I decided I wanted to buy it, it had just gone by. So now I've been sitting here through all the Keanes and shit just to spend $1.50. With my luck it'll be the last game on sale.

Look at all the games left and decide beforehand. Because of the higher numbers generally u have a good chance to get the games u want. ...well except freebies...
avatar
saruchan: Your ping almost certainly has nothing to do with getting freebies. The thing is, your screen only updates every 2 seconds, and when that 2 seconds happens is based on when you first loaded the webpage. The freebie becomes available the millisecond that the last copy of the previous game sells. If that last copy is sold one millisecond after your browser last requested an update, other people have 1.999 seconds more than you to click before you even have a chance to see it.
avatar
bradelli: Are you sure? My ping is showing as 24ms, and I have got almost all of the free games that I saw (in fact I think all except Total Annihilation). I didn't do anything really special yet still got them. Then it turns out my ping is just smaller than other peoples. Could it not be a reason?
A better wording would have been "has very little to do with". It does help, and as others have mentioned a very poor ping (1+ seconds) is probably going to count you out. An average ping is probably just as likely to get you a bear as anything else, since a huge influx of simultaneous requests chokes everything. A slightly later time will get you in after the choke point and before the bear people refresh... but that's all relative, because that 2000 millisecond variation in when you see the freebie is still much larger than the variation in most people's pings.

Also, if you're losing any packets along the way, that's going to matter too, and a ping test won't tell you about that.

ok - forget it

Stoltverd: 65 ms any good?
The guy who said he got almost all the freebies had a ping of 24, a lot of the Germans seem to be getting average results with ~50-60ms pings. United States and Canada are both 100-150ms, and only a few of us have been getting lucky this sale.

i know that feeling, I been waiting for Thief 3 to come up again as that is the only game left that I want and I have to get to bed early since I have to get up for work by 3:30 am
avatar
Kaitu: 82. Syberia $1.99
Syberia's already come and gone I think.

gogbot: *snip*
You still have Chaos Engine in your games left to come

before the next game showing up it´s fading out and in! But meanwhile you can already click it! ...
Has Cognition been up yet? I missed it the last round.
What potential slow burners are left?. Retro City Rampage, Cognition,Wargame (depending on quantities i guess)
