Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

N0w3gg: 1st torchlight is closer to Diablo 2, as in there arn't any charge systems. Also, only 3 classes, but a decent amount of customization. The underlying gameplay is solid enough to make the game great, despite a story that's easy to ignore. Ability to send pet to town to sell any and all loot you don't want is awesome.

picchioabbio: And graphically it's way better than Diablo 2
I'll jump in quickly to let people know, Torchlight is in many ways a direct reaction to Diablo II's gameplay shortcomings. It has almost nothing in the way of story, but the game itself is much more player-friendly. I recommend hitting up the Torchlight community's mods to tweak the game after you get a taste of it. The "no white items" mod is particularly nice. That said, Torchlight II is really the better product.

Infin8ty: The Torchlight series is made by the same guys who made Diablo 1 & 2. They first made Fate then Torchlight. Fate was experimental with some new things (mainly pets really) and Torchlight refined it to the beautiful thing we all know and love.
And that's why Torchlight 2 is the better Diablo 3.

I still don't have torchlight. I have the second one, but not the first.

WWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! okay then.

Shendue: Actually it was ONE pk. And he theoretically was unkillable, it's just that they were doing a reset of the game and he forgot to put the unkillable switch on when his avatar restarted. He told it himself, i've watched him being asked about that story by Chris Roberts on a podcast during the Star Citizen Kickstarter campaign.
Really? That is even more epic, that guy can say he was the only one who defeted Lord British.

Chevette: Yes, because you've played it. So you are a TRUE PC gamer. Before Deus Ex we barely knew what gaming was.... (I am being silly of course, having played PC games since you had to use floppies and swap them multiple times in order to play anything... and you had to have another blank one to save your game... IF you could save it.)

CarrionCrow: You just reminded me of Eye of the Beholder when you mentioned floppies. Which then reminded me of how I can't draw maps to save my life. Gotta love impromptu word association. lol.
And THAT made me remember the ending of Eye of the Beholder.... ARRRRRRGHHH!

I actually preferred Fate, but then again I've not played Torchlight in anger yet (partly due to a borked graphics card so I can't play 3d games at the moment)

Torchlight 1 was basically Diablo 1's world with Diablo 2's gameplay with Diablo 3's graphics.

Ah... Those were the days. Speaking of which--so we all know from Zork, right? Does anyone remember the Infogrames Adventure Pack (I think that's what it was called)? With, like, all the Zork games, and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Shadow Over Innsmouth and all? Would love to see GOG put those up.

I remember the first time I played Eye of the Beholder, I ran like a headless chicken with no paper map and I actually got to half of the game.
I keep holding on to the hope that someday GOG manages to get past the legal and ownership hurdles required to get the original Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain.

I played the PC version at a friend's house years ago and loved how much better it was than the PS1 version. Especially the loading times.

Some day......Some day

Oops. Sorry about that. Considering that I never even got close to that far, I can just imagine how traumatizing that memory is.
