Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

xenxander: yeah my friend built a dildo with legs as the first fully evolved land creature.

I sorta built a vagina with legs and we set up some role play story fanfiction.

xenxander: Grrr stupid video card.

I got an Nvidia 550 last year. Not the best but last year I think the 650s were top of the line so this wasn't too much a step back. Anyway the damned thing keeps crashing and recovering, even with the most updated driver set.

I am getting an ATI next time, no questions.

Nvidia is starting to suck.
I own a GTX 560 personally, and I can say that it has performed excellently. The problems you are experiencing... I've seen them before when I was using an unreliable power supply. In my current rig, I only use a 550W power supply, but I picked one that provides good clean power for both the main board and the extra GPU rail. No issues with this one at all.

19jukka78: is there anybody time to give the list what is goming next on the sale??

northern7: Still to come (in random order):

Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic $2.49
Alpha Centauri $1.49
Anodyne $2.49
Anvil of Dawn $1.49
...
SNIP...SNIP...SNIP
...
Two Worlds 2: Epic Ed. $3.99
Ultima 7 The Complete Ed. $1.49
Ultima Underworld 1+2 $1.49
Wargame: European Escalation $6.69
Wing Commander 4 $1.49
Wing Commander: Privateer $1.49
Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings $5.99
Wow! People wanting free games need to have the same luck as the list generators. Randomly generating these names has consistently produced alphabetical results... What are the chances of that???

Sadly, yes....
Well that's the thing with preorders and hype... They usually suck.
I hope Starbound don't!
Syberia is a great adventure game with an excellent art direction. It's also a multi-language game. I highly recommend it.

I think they mean the games will be on sale in random order, not the list is in random order. Even though it looks like that's what they're saying.
avatar
brunosiffredi: The way GOG.com is giving out free games has to change if they intend to do this again in the future.

I've clicked on at least 10 different free game offers since the sale began and every time the same thing happens: first I got the "we are overwhelmed by the popularity of our service" page and after that I got the "this offer has expired" page.

I'm pretty sure that many, possibly the majority of users, are having a similar experience.
avatar
turin1988: I agree that they need to do something to handle the traffic better, but 10 failed attempts due to the offer simply expiring really isn't incorrect or unexpected when you consider the limited availability and the number of people going for them.

It's not supposed to be a mass giveaway that everyone is entitled to.
Same reply a gave to another guy.

My point is that it's not fun if it's not clear weather you didn't get the free game because you didn't click fast enough, because of a technical issue with GOG.com's servers or because you live in a region so distant from those servers it's impossible to you to get them.

no I got a 900 power supply so I wouldn't have any issues like that.
So, next up Postal 2? The one freebie I got yesterday? Great, that will move hundreds of units in mere seconds..... time to play Rogue Legacy then ;)
