Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Spellcast: spore sucked so badly. another game with far more hype than delivery. sigh.
I won't say it did suck. It was rather enjoyable. The problem is that it was way too overhyped.

What'd I miss after Dragon Commander? Thought that one was going to take longer than Keane, so I went to sleep.

finbar_omahony: its being snapped up pretty fast, although i do like adventure games i find i dont have the patience for them anymore, didnt stop me buying it though
avatar
superkoira: I have the same problem... But I also still keep buying them :D wish I had the patience.
And especially for Syberia you need a lot of patience. Considering the slow walking animations...

brunosiffredi: The way GOG.com is giving out free games has to change if they intend to do this again in the future.

I've clicked on at least 10 different free game offers since the sale began and every time the same thing happens: first I got the "we are overwhelmed by the popularity of our service" page and after that I got the "this offer has expired" page.

I'm pretty sure that many, possibly the majority of users, are having a similar experience.

Shendue: Well, it's unavoidable if there's 10k people clicking on it and 20 copies.
Well, true but limiting the freebies per account has SOME merit at least.

amarokster: Wait, am I the only one who liked Spore?? I thought it was tons of fun/innovative, and I had a great time with it. :S
I really liked Spore, but the Space section felt totally bland, so I just replayed everything else over and over again....
Syberia is definitely a worthwhile game to play - and it´s probably safe to say, that it won´t get any cheaper than this for a long time ;-)

And it was not what it should and could have been. It was far too simplistic, really.

Me too, but it was ruined!!!!!
Just look at the e3 videos of the time!!! They promised a gourmet but we got eggs and bacon. Eggs and bacon is good, taste great, but it's no gourmet dinner...

I enjoy it in moderation. It can get old pretty fast, and I have found that many of my creations end up looking very similar to my old ones, even without outright intending it. Still, I can easily blow a full day playing it after a sufficient break from the last time I play it.

zarquon: Syberia 3? I would love for that to be true...
avatar
Spartan717: It's currently in developement. It'll hopefully be released in a couple more years ;)
Sweet. Syberia 1 &2 are among my favorite adventure games, right up there with The Longest Journey; great stuff.
anybody here play PayDay the Heist (first one)? Any good for pure single player?

There is no "longer than Keane". And you missed Rogue Legacy, Populous: The Beginning aaaaaand... I forgot, was there something else aside from the Aquanox freebie?

I agree that they need to do something to handle the traffic better, but 10 failed attempts due to the offer simply expiring really isn't incorrect or unexpected when you consider the limited availability and the number of people going for them.

It's not supposed to be a mass giveaway that everyone is entitled to.

All I remember about the flop of a game is people building dildos with it.
Knowing my luck, I won't see Shelter before I have to leave.
