Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Tumichnix: Just got X-REBIRTH!!! :-P
Thx GOG... because of your slow moving sales I had to buy something at STEAM... crap!
Heh,

I am waiting for that game to go on sale before I purchase. Patience is the key. Developer's will get their cut of the cake during the initial buyouts. I was surprised STEAM didn't do a promotion sale on the rest of the X Series during the time leading up to Rebirth's release.

Let us know what it is like. I was attracted to the previous games, but found it just took too much investment of time to even get stared up that cliff of a learning curve. I really wanted to like and enjoy it too.

xenxander: that's "Black and White" and actually they kinda sucked.

It's a glorified "take care of your pet" game.

Fezred: I thought the same. It had so much potential but ended up a huge let-down. I still remember the shock and confusion with so many gamers with the first one when they had just gotten out of the tutorials and suddenly a handful of levels later it was game over. The pet had potential but it ended up a bad Tamagochi (remember them?) type game melded with a bad strategy game and then a layer of frustrating puzzle stuff on top where you were often battling the controls and physics engine more than you were the enemy gods.

B&W2 tried to fix these things and make it more Populous. I'd say it was more fun and polished a game, but far less ambitious and was also a bit disappointing in the end.

Of course because Peter was involved there were endless half-arsed ideas and unfinished elements scattered throughout he'd obviously abandoned when he got bored and moved onto another idea he could hype to the gamers during development... I think he worked best in Bullfrog as there must have been others who worked well to balance him out.
Tamagotchi's are still alive and kicking. : )

sirchaox1224: *Yawn* Did Jack Keane strike again last night?
avatar
Fictionvision: Yes, we had:

Jack Keane 4: The Book of Unwritten Keanes
Jack Keane 5: Keanescape
and Jack Keane 6: Keanevinity Dragon Commander

we are back on track now though
There were only 3 games posted in the last 8 hours?! Man this sale has slowed dramatically. Even Jack Keane himself would demand a timer at this point.
Thanks to whoschad and BlueLemon for the useful lists!

Lets me know I should still stick around for a couple:
NWN: Diamond
IceWind Dale
BG1
and the Witcher 2 - had that in my cart when i fell asleep, and my laptop ran out of memory overnight ;)

What, your first Tamagotchi is still alive? Boy, you need to go out more... ;-D
Has Septerra Core had its 3rd loop yet? If so, extreme sadface.

Beelzebubb: Anyone play Re-Birth? I noticed its been on steams top seller list for awhile.
That's because it was just released as of today. Everyone has been pre-purchasing since Oct31st.
Hey guys, Lords of the Realm: Royal Edition is on a regular sale now - pretty cheep at $2,39
Less than 20 to go populous

Combined those games took about 10 hours I think.

Then we had Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 and Rogue Legacy.

It was the second one.
So, downloaded and installed Rogue Legacy. Now, I actually want a new Keane game to go on sale. Keanrunner?
Goddamnit Gog.
Give me my Witcher 2 nooooow.
