Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

I would really love to see the end figures as in units sold and how long in each round it took to sell out.

dal4fsu: Do you think Rogue Legacy will be any cheaper than this any time soon like BF or Christmas sales?
avatar
Stoltverd: Nope! Actually this is the biggest discount i have seen since it got released
I disagree. Most games on GOG are included in the annual Christmas Sale and they average around 75% off. So my guess is that Rogue Legacy will be a part of the Christmas event and on sale for at least 66% off. IMHO.

Fezred: Another couple of console RPGs I found worth playing (and replaying) was Suikoden 1 & 2. Now those really are worth your five bucks on GOG.com.
I have both of those for PSX, and the 3rd one for PS2.

They are quite hard to find, nowadays.

Austrobogulator: Hm, not sure if I should get this or not...
If you like rogue games (ie. you die alot and have random generated levels) then you should get it.

It's a mash between the binding of isaac and demon souls.
Which is better, NWN1 or 2?

I agree I played through the first Suikoden back in the day....played second never finished it though.

bell02: i still have the lucius gift...for NWN2 ^^
Lucius can be got for $1 right now from http://www.indiegala.com/?igdirt - how is that a good deal for anyone? Unless of course they just have it spare and want to get rid of it.
OMG, I can't believe this sale is still happening :)

both
An idea for future sales with flash freebies:

Say they have 30 free copies of a title to give out.

When the time comes to hand out the freebie, they should start a timer, say 10 seconds.

During that 10 seconds each GOG account has one chance to click on the free game button. (So no worry about spamming)

After the 10 second timer expires, 30 random winners are chosen from those who clicked.

As it is now, I am sure people are either sitting there waiting for the offer to "flip" then just start clicking like mad before the next offer even pops up. If it's not the freebie, they just back out of the checkout page.

That, and those who live further away from GOG servers have pretty much no chance due to latency.

Shendue: Still a 20mb DSL, wifi or not. Us peasants that live in tech-impaired countries with crappy 7mb connections are doomed to fail to start with.
avatar
spoonwhale: I have a 4 mb connection, and i've gotten some free games.
then it must be my crappy ISP.

Jack Keane 2!
I got distracted and when I returned to the screen I saw Rogue Legacy, and I remembered people talking about it and panicked and bought it. I hope I'll like it! I defintely should be sleeping instead of doing this right now.
