Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Cardian: Speaking of new consoles, I just got a review code for Bravely Default for my 3DS, yay ^_^ Guess I'll be playing that when the title is something like Shadowkeane or Omerta: City of Keane.

Faenwulf: I really, really hope those two are the last games for round 3....or at least only come after about 18:30 GMT+1 when I have to leave my PC. And I hope Witcher 2 comes on before that.
The way things are moving, it's going to take another 4 days to get through the rest of round 3. I think this is the mercy round for those dino GOGites whose reflexes were shot in the first shareware FPS boom of the early 80s.

ToFoQc: What's PID ?

Oh, look at that, I may have a spare GOG key for PID as well.

Try this out :)

wanderlust76: Yeah I never got into the N64 or Jaguar either. I played PC games, PS1 or something else. I missed the whole Golden Eye thing I mean after playing Doom 2 on the PC over the internet with buddies - Golden Eye really wasn't that big of a deal if you had already done that. Resident Evil 2 on PS1 was considered to have pretty much the best graphics of the era.

xenxander: My friend suckered me into renting golden eye for the N64 on leave, sometime in 2000.

I hated it. I thought it looked and played horribly, but he thought it was the shit.

I kept thinking, "why?" this game is horrendous.

But people just didn't see it my way. Probably because they fell into the marketing poison - the imps who tell you "you like this, don't you... Yes you do." and people ate the shit and thought it was sugar.

I'm very happy I missed that meal.
Not everything people liked and you didn't is because everybody else is just an idiot and falls for marketing. And that's coming from someone who doesn't give a shit about Golden Eye (but that's because I don't like Ego Shooters that much in general.)

Fezred: Might be nice to have some old console games on here too. Particularly the PSX and Dreamcast era and so on. At least we'd know they'd have to be oldies for the emulation so not just the new stuff for a change. ;)

Faenwulf: And the good old SNES games. Especially Square Enix titles like Secret of Mana/Evermore etc.
And Terranigma! Loved that one. One of those games that tried to push things forward in every direction.

Cardian: I got an N64 when it was almost at its end. Just bought it off eBay, I think, along with the Zeldas, Mario and some other games I wanted to play. Granted, those weren't many, but for what I paid it was well worth it.
Sorta, me too. I was past boot camp, into my "A-School" and a barracks mate was selling his N64 with some games to me. I paid very little for the console, the memory expansion, two controllers, the golden Zelda 64, Quest 64, Castlevania 64. He asked for 200 bucks total for it all. Not too bad, I thought. This was in 2000.

I then bought Star wars Pod racer (biggest mistake ever), and conquer's bad fur day (albeit a few years later, at the absolute end of the n64 support lifespan)

I didn't like the N64 at all. I kept with my Playstation until upgrading to PS2, and only took out the N64 when my friend wanted to play conquer - which let me watch the game, get the story, enjoy it for its humor, without having to deal with that stupid controller which made every game even worse.

I think Grima Wormtongue got a job in marketing for games. It's the only explanation.

Goldeneye was a decent multiplayer FPS on consoles. That didn't exist back then. That, by default, made it "good". Halo was the same thing. It was a middling FPS compared to what was on PCs, but since it was on consoles and didn't have to compete it was "the greatest thing evar!!!11".

I once bought that game just so I could give it away for free
