Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

bell02: all the new 3-d games looks for me the same... 3th person shooter or ego shooter etc.. all they look the same to me. Even Halo or cod ...for me exactly the same. Mass Effect or uncharted...for me its looks the same... nothing new there..

artwork is totaly repetitive nowdays! Only Daedalic or some other dev´s knows what is importan for a remarkable game.
Of Course the old games are the best ones because they dont hade the power of graphics, the focus for each game was mor on artwork, timeless art and story! But now, we have games that pushed out on the market only to increase the sells...

Stoltverd: Devs have gotten kinda lazy... All games looks the same because all use Unreal or Unity as engine and Havok as physics.
I think there's also the mistake in not being ambitious enough with the art style itself. They go either for a WOW art rip off with a generic cartoon style or for realism. There's not as much STYLE to it as there used to be. I could glance at a game screen shot and tell you it was a Bitmap Brother game back in the day because of that style. Each game often had it's own consistent art style. That idea seems to have gone by the wayside for the most part in these AAA or AAA-wannabe games.

Of course the other thing the old 2D games could do is is screen layouts and designs that are impossible, bizarre twisted shapes that wouldn't work in 3D. Imagine if every work on canvas or in print had to be made as a 3D game environment. It wouldn't always work or would be the lesser for the translation.
Mmmm this is taking too long... isnt there a rich GOGer round here who can afford those 70 copies ?? We want moar offers !!
Fellow GOGers, my body collapsed a few hours ago, after over twenty-four hours of non-stop Insomnia sale and I just woke up.

When that happened, another Nordic Games (Jack Keane devs) title was up for grabs, Book of Unwritten Tales, so, could anyone please tell me just what did I miss between then and now? I'm guessing not much, since I figure round 3 will go s l o w l y as crap (over saturation, by now, only the most wanted titles will go fast, the ones people "might get but are not a priority" have probably been already taken); two games? Three games? All I know is that I woke up to Dragon Commander, even with the discount it's not that big a deal, but maybe that's because I'm far from a strategy fan -- and not a Lariat fan by a long shot, tried Divine Divinity, found it way too boring and not compelling at all.

Most games in round 3 will be reruns of the Keanegate I proudly survived last night.

Divinity looks like a pretty interesting game from the store page. Problem is for less than the cost of it in this sale I've got:

Thief Gold
Thief 2
Thief 3
Myst Masterpiece Edition
Wing Commander IV
Don't Starve
Nexus The Jupiter Incident

So like many others I'll try it out later on down the road.

You missed Thunderscape, thats it.

I went to bed when it came up and there hasn't been anything else between it and Divinity.

Chevette: Holy cow... I went to bed when Thunderscape was on sale and it looks like I haven't missed anything! That took a while. Did it rival Jack Keane 2?
Well, not really. Jack Keane sold 100 copies in 5 hours in phase 2, while Thunderkeane had 300 units and took about 4-5, I think. And this is phase 3, where it was guaranteed to be a lot slower on the less demanded titles.
Hmmm, there is a small chance that I can pick my daughter up from school before this game finishes selling...

I have the same issue, here. All games look about the same - realism gray/brown drab dust, or cartoony.. all looking about the same in detail.

Graphics only can look 'so good'. Now all games look alike. There's no original art design any longer (sure portal looked original, but now that's been ripped off, too)

Thunderscape
Divine Dragon whatever it's called on the front page.

Xabyer_B: This was in the first round. Now is 3ª round.

DukeDuvel: I seem to have missed the info on the round system (waves), anyone care to elaborate a bit on it?
1ª- Round... Fight... Win Gog (a lots of money)
2º Round... Repet the same at ramdom. (Every game).
3º Round... Repeat the same very sloooooooooooooooooooooooowly. (14 games of 101 if I don't wrong).

P.D: Yes, it's a tribute to Street fighter 2 (and other fighting games).
I hope the Keane developers don't read this forum. It would suck to have your game pegged as the archetype for games that don't sell. Apart from that aspect, though, I find the whole thing to be hilarious. :)

So our boy Jack is still the champion. Whew.
Sadly the 3D games that have different art style either suck or have bad sales because of marketing issues.
For example look at blood vigil.
FLIP ALREADY DRAGON COMMANDER
Hopely gog release some stats on this sale... example how many copies of each game and saling time exc... this promo is been high susses but little long on last round... well they learn this gind of promos. Steam or gamers gate will never go like this...and hell i even dont be buy one single game for my self but i im look this in the start....

They read it and and even made some funny comment about how they want us customers to get some sleep :D
Can't link you the original comment, it was here somewhere in the 675 pages^^
