Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Fezred: Likewise. I never enjoyed the early 3D stuff as much (though there were a few exceptional games worthy of attention) and I think it has dated so much worse than the 2D art based games. The Fallout and BG style views and art were a peak of the genre for me. BG2 was astonishingly beautiful in parts. I'm not a fan of the super-deformed or garish cartoon styles that have crept in and become common in the post-WOW era either.

npalsensei: +1 I couldn't stand the early 3D. I was actually puzzled why would anyone do that when he could do some pretty awesome 2D till 3D gets at an acceptable level.
I HATED the early 3-d games - the way they looked, I mean. Take the N64. Sure some games were pretty good on it, but the early age of 3-d games.. it's just horrible to look at. Dull, flat textures, jagged polygons.

Sure it was the prototype era of 3-d but that's what it should have been. Full systems shouldn't have been made, crafted on that horrible tech. It should have been the 'beta' of 3-d, and systems should have been built in the 3-d v2 era (IE PS2) only.
Then think of how stellar the N64 could actually have been.

to be fair, the Dreamcast sorta DID do that. They let some of the bad 3-d tech be experimented with and actually had a decent system.. too bad it's marketing department was a bunch of angry chimps trying to reach for a spoiled banana and couldn't understand how to market the thing.. so it flopped.

What we need for these are the telesales people from the shopping channel doing a livestream for them to get them moving. Have them rant about how they are easy to clean, how they are ideal for DIY or can be used anywhere or cure all known ailments. Whatever. Even if you keep the salesperson in the wings until we get Keaned, it could work well. At the very least we will be entertained by their antics.

Okay, GOG, I'm awake... it was very nice of you to let me get some sleep, but you can stop your Keane-a-thon now. :P
darn, I missed Blood, does this go on sale often?

GOG would go bust :p

Seriously though, I'm out of a job because of one of those shopping channels, they went bust owing my last place a ton of money :(
I feel rested. I'd like to thank whoever held up progress for the last nine hours.

It most likely will be. Free games didn't count in the first two waves as valid appearances.

YEah... It wouldn't be so bad if they gave us 1 or 2 good games in a row.

In hopes og gog staff seeing this: Please add Icewind dale 2 and temple of elemental evil to the mix!!!

mantarrochen: Thats one hell of a breakfast!
Slow breakfast, not a large one. My stomach can't take much food in the morning.
My entire day off, no mentionable sales (only 2 in 8 hours or so). I just know that go to sleep the one sale I'm waiting for will come by.
Next time, put a timer on it. If a sale lasts longer than 30 minutes, off to the next one.
