Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

I clicked it, I lose it. :(
I already have Aquanox. Buy faster you monkeys!
This kind of tactic should be beyond GOG. I've never felt compelled to write on this website before, but I had to write something for this event. You're purposefully "limiting" stock just to induce demand and get easy sales.

If I wanted to experience this kind of stress, and later on buyer's remorse, I'd subject myself to Wal-Mart on Thanksgiving night. I'm sure you'll get more sales than you typically would. It just comes across as exploitative to me and not endearing to your customers.

I'm glad you're trying new techniques. As for me personally I hope you'll continue to have the sales where I have enough time to contemplate and think about what I'm buying before I hit the button. There's many reasons I don't shop at Amazon for my gaming purchases, among them being their lightning deals.

If a game is available on GOG and Steam, I'll always buy it from GOG first. You've earned my loyalty from past actions, and I wish to continue in the future.

TLDR: Don't stoop to sleazy sales tactics, I view GOG better than that.

peixoto: PLEASE, someone tell me how many more games to go? Got really tired here...
It's about half way to the end - http://www.reddit.com/r/GameDeals/comments/1qjevg/gog_fall_insomnia_megathread_limited_quantity

Lilim: Beyond Good and Evil for free. Missed it?! ARGH!!!

Damn you!

Zcastration: Honestly as soon as it appears its gone. I'm not really sure how it works. I didn't have the option to click the damn button. It flipped and then re flipped to the next game.
People with bots/scripts are just auto-winning every single free game. It's super classy.
Damn man I missed beyond good and evil too.

Hey was my previous post removed or something...?
When I see the deal, it is ust expired

EckoShy: I missed Beyond Good and Evil for free FSKFBAKJSFALGHLAGHLKASLK
I looked away for a minute and then on refresh I see beyond good and evil mockingly flipping away...
Grrrr. It's nearly impossible to catch free games! Just 8 copies?!? That's ridiculous.
I think GOG made a big mistake not putting captchas to the free game.. i seriously suspect the "winners" must be bots! I didn't even get the chance to see Beyond Good and Evil that it disappeared a nanosecond later!

Pidgeot: We've had about 45 so far.

If you're going by when the e-mail went out, the sale had already been going for about 4 hours at that point.

peixoto: Less than half? Ow, you sure??
Not 100% sure, but it shouldn't be too far off.

This Reddit thread seems to be keeping up quite well, and it had Strike Suit Zero as #45.

Of course, now we're already most of the way #47, so by my estimate we should pass the halfway mark within 5 minutes.
LOL, this thread makes the sales even more hilarious xP
Cruel bastards, eight copies? Everyone should play BG+E <3
This is sort of like watching the Rose Parade on New Year's Day.
GOG please state at least 1000 copies of Worswow!

Oh wait
