Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

amok: God... is this still going on?

My impressions of this sale:

Hurry hurry, buy now!! this is the last one!

nah, just kidding, here are some more :)

But now - hurry hurry, quick quick buy buy buy - this is the last one!

nah, just kidding, here are some more :)

Truly believe us! BUY NOW, QUICK QUICK QUICK - ONLY 200 left!!!! BUY NOW!!!!

nah, just kidding, here are some more :)

Rinse and repeat.

I do not like this sales tactics at all. To me it borders on lying, and it creates an unnatural shortage which makes people buy even if they are not sure if they want to have the game or not.
I think the games were on sale only 2 times each, and some of them for 3 times (and final one).

dhrverbruggen: IMO they are not lying.. They told us there would be repeats.. read there post
''The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once''

I found the sale fun so far i got all the games i wanted and is was fun to see this forum got so big :)

amok: "Border on" lying. It do not matter if they say it in a post - the front page says "XXX left. Last chance! Buy now".

Since I knew there are repeats, then I am not going straight out saying lying, but .... "Last chance"? not really. Anyway, you may like them, that's fine. I think it is dirty sales tactics meant to pray on some of the less finer aspects human nature - we do not want to miss out.
You are right, i thought de last change showed up in the last round. Was not expecting this from GOG.

Planeforger: As far as I'm aware, that "Last chance" sign has only turned up recently, to indicate that this is the last time each particular game will be discounted during this sale.
Yep, for the first two rounds the sign wasn't there, it only started appearing for the third and apparently last repeat.

skeletonbow: ... and freebies causing angry hordes who swear to never do business with them again....
Actually, I thought those were funny. I LOL'd at them ^_^
yay reading

Cardian: Sadly, I never had a NES, but my cousin did and I always went to his place to play SMB1-3. The SNES was my first own console and I loved it, still do. There just aren't any games like Terranigma anymore. And I don't even know how many iterations of Chrono Trigger I've bought over the years...

I hope you're not interested in THOSE games since that was the list with games that already had their final run.

CorranHorn: Super Mario Bors was the game that made me want a NES that and Ice Climber. Got Ice Hockey and played it with a friend of mine, it was a blast=).

Yes I know that, thx anyway=).
Heh, I too played those, they were great, gosh so many sleepless fun nights I had with Mario Bros. Ice climber was fun too. I played quite a bit of that. The one that got me most was Legend of Zelda and Dragon Warrior, so many timesink hours i had put into those and probably finished them a good many times over ^_^
I think I will be able to finish season 5 of Breaking Bad before Thunderscape: Die Hard is sold out LOL

I spent most of my time with Jack Keane, Eador: Keane Returns, Book of Unwritten Tales: What Doesn't Keane You Makes You Stronger etc by watching this season.

Obviously I almost finished the series.
I'm almost proud, that I didn't buy anything from that promo.
hmm... out of those two dungeons that were on sale I'm more fond of Anvil of Dawn, Thunderscape seems kinda odd...

anyhow, Stonekeep still RULES!
I'd like to buy Real Texas. Any chance to predict when it will show up again? :)

CorranHorn: NES was my first console, sadly I sold it with all my games (even had Mike Tyson´s Punch Out which later was renamed) and my Zapper (Duck Hunt was so damn fun to play, Gumshoe made me go berserk=)).

Got a SNES mostly for the Street Fighter 2 (probably the game that made me buy a SNES over a Megadrive/Genesis). And boy did I want the NEO-GEO, so many good games but that was just something I could dream about since it cost a fortune.

Briareos262: heh, had to take a quicke nap, my whole body is still tired of waiting for the good sales....mostly just Don't Starve ATM.

Anywho yeah my first system was Atari, it was great at the time. However the NES just blew it out of the water after it came out I remember after the Atari video game crash age. I too had sadly sold my NES a few years later after it was bought. Luckily I rebought again right before there were gonna move on to SNES. OMG SNES was like a renaissance again for the videogame era. great times great times =)

Oh yeah the Neo Geo that was insane I remember drooling over that console wanting to get it in my younger days, however the home console and the carts were uber expansive. System was like $500-600 and carts ranged from $150-200+ at the time. !t was way too rich for me and still never gotten around to getting one. Even the Neo Geo Pocket I missed too =( which I recall was alot cheaper and games too.
Heard people mentioning the Atair but I never got one, I did however get an Atari 520 ST after a friend of mine showed me Maniac Mansion, many good games came to that system.

Also got an Amiga 500, I remember when people had the same arguments about Amiga and Atari as the one we are seeing now on Sony vs Microsoft (and Sega vs Nintendo, makes the whole Microsoft vs Sony thing look lame).

There are definitely worse ways to spend your Keane time. But be careful, if Thunderkeane ends before you finish the final season, you might not want to stop watching and miss all the real deals.

Don't forget "Rise of the Keane Triad in Eador" ;-)

At this rate I think you have good chances of finishing season 5 of Breaking Bad. Good show have yet to see the last season till it hits DVD.
I thought this promo was fun (in a sick, addicting way). Unsure why some people are mad at a chance to get games cheaper than normal, but anyone was able to buy any GOG game at full price for last couple of days as well, so I'm not sure why the complaints. Other than wasting a good bit of my work production the last 2 days..... Good luck all on the 3rd round!
