Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

For those of you who missed it, a generous Goglodyte donated a copy of System Shock 2 to my GA - so get in already!

Chevette: You could consume spirits or suppress the hunger (for a while)... here's a mod that makes it easier to do that (slows down the spirit meter, makes using suppress easier and such).

There's also a way to turn it off using console commands (I think).

I had a different solution -- I just played it multiplayer and made the other person be the spirit-eater. ;)

mantarrochen: Hehe, thats pretty smart. Thanks for the mod suggestion I definitely need to give NWN 2 + addons another try. Are the addons included in the offer here at GOG?
NWN2 Complete has base game + expansions + soundtracks

This book is long. I went for a long shower and it just went from 400ish to 283.
Seem like it may happen again, Anvil of Dawn will only show up after I go to sleep.....
BOUT is an amazing adventure game. One of the best of the last 5 years or so. It's incredibly charming and has some great puzzles and characters.

And just to be clear, I'm being serious! We've been praising the hell out of Jack Keane and Eador so it's probably hard to tell when someone is actually endorsing a game now.

mkess: Nordic, The company that bought the smoking ruins of the bankrupt company NoGood. (JoWood)

No chance in hell I buy something from them.

zlep: JoWood brought out Gothic, which spares it from the NoGood rhyme. They may have released bug-ridden software, been unresponsive to user complaint, fiscally irresponsible, and unable to learn from past mistakes, but every so often they turned out gems.
JoWood is a publisher, not a developer, and they're not a very discriminating one at that. Mostly, they have a habit of throwing whatever money they have lying about at anyone who wanders in to the office and seeing if actual games happen as a result. (I'm going with present tense since Nordic seems to still be using the JoWood name and business model.) You can blame them for bugs and horrible customer service (publishers usually set the release date and cover basic support). But you can't really credit them with well-made (or poorly-made) games as a whole. They can rush or slow the game-making process, but that's about it. (Some publishers will try to change some elements of games to varying levels of success, but by and large the dev studio is still the one you should credit when thinking of the game as a whole.)

No, they bought developer studios and ruined them. Like EA does. It was a good day for gamers, then they died.
