Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

xenxander: The only thing I can't believe, is we're being cock-blocked by a 2 buck game.

I understand the 6, 10, and 20 buck games, but this one.... :p
7 billion people on the earth.

And together they can't come up with $104 to move this game out the way.

Underneath the freebies GOG should write:

FAT CHANCE

;)
For 10 dollars I would never buy this, for five dollars I'd be iffy, for two dollars? And it runs on a Mac without me dicking with it? Sure I'll buy one. Then again, I'm weird and like my third-person FPSes. :D
I disconnected for quite a few hours today to avoid the stalemates but thought I'd poke my head back in. I see Sniper Elite Berlin 1945 is the current game and it is moving slow which is a surprise to me because I own this game and think it is rather excellent. I picked it up on the holiday season sale as I love first person shooters that are tactical combat sims and this game has some realistic gun ballistics in it including taking into account gravity and breathing and whatnot so I thought it would be interesting and a little unique to what I'm used to.

Well, I have to say I played the game for about a week and really enjoyed it before getting derailed with some other game or another, but I am going to start it over one of these days and go through the entire game as I thought it was quite awesome personally.

If anyone likes tactical combat shooters which try to give elements of more realism, this game is that type of thing and has a good atmosphere. I'm really surprised it isn't selling a lot faster to be honest. I wish GOG had all of the rest of the Sniper Elite series of games including the goofy ones like Nazi Zombie Army series, I'd buy them all up from my experience with this one.

Anyhow, that's my feelings about the game and I hope it helps anyone unsure to decide. I'd write a GOG review if their software didn't eat my last 5 reviews and waste my time. :)

Update: The only negative I had with this game is that it only supports up to 1920x1080 or something like that and I have a 16:10 display at 2560x1600. A minor issue though as the game still looked great at its maximum resolution.

I've gotten two of them and I feel DAMN lucky at my 20mp connection on WIRELESS.

Systemshock 2 and Postal 2. Never played either one.

Have you bought it to move the game? Multiple copies even since you seem to be in a hurry?

Under different circumstances I might. Like having more money. Maybe I'm just weird, but the ultimate goal is to obtain the entire collection. But for now have to prioritize.

FledglingPidgeon: How can you make fun of Eador and Sniper Elite but forget Rise of the Triad?! That was up for about an hour and a half too.
That's because i still feel dirty for buying it, therefore i'm not joking at all about that game.

isn't sniper elite v2 the exact game and a better
Remake then this one?

Not a very good buy since steam always
Sells this as a package with v2

Briareos262: yeah that thought ran across my head a few dozen times. Still trying to hang in there too.

Knofbath: If you miss it or give up on this sale, keep an eye out for bundle deals. I picked up Thief 1,2,3 in the Fair and Square GoG bundle last summer for $15.
Yeah I know the holiday sale is around the corner. However this is the cheapest I've seen Don't Starve listed and being limited on funds as I am almost all the time, I'm enduring the wait, hopefully get lucky this 3rd round =)

Let us remember those who have fallen today.

Engine Mechanic, Arries Von Skittles
Alien Generator, Facility
Combat Specialist, Nikola Pincher

May we never forget them.

Austrobogulator: Interesting that we're all being held up by a $1.99 game.

mondo84: Topsy turvy up in here!

Is Sniper Elite any good? Reviews on this site are scarce and mixed. Same goes for general web search.
At $1.99 its OK. It plays a bit clunky and looks a bit blocky. There's decent atmosphere and sneaking about searching for the enemy is fun. Ultimately , though, its a bit of a mess.
