Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Deals so bad you won't be able to stay awake! Or convince anyone to damn well buy the sodding things.
Right, if I'm getting these games I need to stay awake, so kettle time. Eador does have one use at least :p
Im tempted to buy a game at full price (Wasteland) and play it while I wait for this BS to end. GOG your such a sly dog.

I see what you did there :)
We need a new game - Jack Keane 3: Vacationing in Eador!

Briareos262: Try waiting for 18+ hours for Don't Starve. I like went to work twice and had no luck scoring the game. Here is hoping 3rd time is a charm.

Bovrillor: That sucks mate. I mean literally waiting though - I've only left the computer to make coffee and go to the toilet. I'm having awful back pain and faceplanting the keyboard, it's just insane. If I'd known it'd take this long to cycle the deals, I wouldn't have bothered - seems mad to give up now though.
Ah well, it has been kinda fun. I missed nothing on my first shift of work thanks for Jack Keene 2 that took almost 5 hours which was like my whole shift. The 2nd shift in the morning when I had to work was when I missed it in the 2nd round.

Despite that, in those 18+ hours I had got few good cheap games and won 2 free games I already had. I was able to feel like santa claus gave them random people that really wanted them in this thread ^_^

Kinda almost wish you could put a quantity in when you are buying games. Consider someone decides to buy 100 copies of a game, then give them away at Christmas as redeemable codes at say a company party....

I think I just had an excellent idea, now only if I had a company to host to give 100 copies of some game...

Stoltverd: This sale is awesome. Makes me feel like the steam holiday sale or summer sale! So exited to see what's next, to buy.

To the pirate guy:
I'm not going to - if you read my previous posts you'd see I have the appropriate respect for developers - especially improverished ones.

I was really just making a point about how utterly f*cking rage-inducing this god-awful sale is. It's driving a rational person to genuinely question their own integrity and sanity. I'd have bought the damn thing hours ago if they just stuck all the content up at once or something. The format is just ABSURD.

Trust me, you'd feel the same way if you'd been sat at your computer for 8.5 hours waiting for a product you assumed would be available within a sane timeframe.

Furthermore, if honest people like myself are feeling this way, I guarantee other people have given up and headed for the torrent sites...

gscotti: Eador:MotBW is selling even worse this time around. It's a disaster worse than RotT but not as bad as JK2.

I guess it is not possible to gift a game once any of its parts have been downloaded? Can anyone confirm?
avatar
Kaitu: Can't gift it after purchase. Have to designate it as a gift at time of purchase from what I've been told.
Thanks, That does make a lot of sense, actually.
OK, I think I understand why they went without a time limit. Eventually, people start buying copies just to get to the next game. The end result is that GOG sells a bunch of copies for a game they wouldn't have sold otherwise. Pretty ingenious actually. I know I am ready to buy a copy of Eador just to do my part in getting rid of it.

In theory if you never downloaded the game you could gift it to someone, but I don't think their system is set up that way.
It's nearly 3 in the morning here. I'm absolutely knackered. Anybody fancy buying me a copy of "I have no mouth" if it comes up in the next few hours?

I'll trade it for...actually I have nothing to trade it for...I'll trade it for whatever you want if it goes on sale tomorrow! :D

To be fair, then the games go quick the sale was awesome. You had a sense of urgency when deciding if you wanted the game or not, not knowing if or when it would show up again. But having any game over $5 is a crapshoot at best. GoG has noticed the trends otherwise jk2 would have had a lot more than 25 copies.
Hey guys i just come up with a foolproof plan for a time machine Jack Keane 3:Eador Triad Masters :P
I can't believe i bought rise of the triad when it came out... or that i just told everyone. It's the gift of embarrassment that just just keeps on giving.

True, I was actually considering it. And damn, even Jack sold faster last time.
