Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

sneakyraccoon: I just got home from work, what games have gone thru last call? Thanks!
Just RotT,

mawihtec: id go with shadow man i never really liked soul reaver but thats just my personal
avatar
Russonc: Thanks...I was leaning towards that one as it looks more interesting (in a weird way...which is good) :)
Not played Soul Reaver, but played Shadowman on console years ago & just bought it again via here.

Make sure head straight to settings, mouse is disabled.
Even once set though, there is no real mouse turning speed sensitivity, but game is still good.

XEternalDreamX: Free game after RotT, I believe it would boost my morale. ;P
but if your luck is like mine it will be 100 free copies if JK2

There is no "after RotT." It is eternal.

rtcvb32: Indeed. Since you can't get good drops everything just ends up 'sell for gold' and you need several million to get anything good in the auction house probably.

Limited inventory space always got to me too in D1 & D2, having mules to keep items you wanted to keep rather than being forced to throw them away. The Zy-El mod was awesome since you had unlimited stash size (PlugY), and a shared one so you could get items and give it to other characters in your computer without creating a multi-player game just to transfer stuff.

billybgame: I'm betting we were on the same forums for many years:) I've played Eastern Sun mod for D2 for many years now. It was great to have the shared stash, etc, like you say. The great tournaments we had. All without ever having to visit Battlenet!

Many there were looking forward to D3 for years.....but I cautioned, as I never pre-order games and always wait for the dust to settle(and for the prices to drop!:)). Good thing, as I know I would not have liked it. I have heard many good things about the PS3 version though, and plan to get that to play multiplayer with my son. No auction house, etc.

What I've done is gone back and found a great mod to play for D1. It's called The Hell, for all of you who've been talking about Diablo....check it out, if you are now aware. Very, very, cool. Still being updated. Even tougher than the original D1, with many things added back in that Blizz left out, and new characters to play. Best of all, you can play multiplayer again on newer computers and can even run without a disk, with a multiclicker! I seriously recommend it for Diablo vets.

Edit: Also, so many cool features....you don't drop your items when you die in Multiplay.....and there are three difficulties for single player, as well!
I will never again preorder games. Lost that, after buying Gothic 3 and AquaNox. And I am begging you, Don't do it either. It makes our hobby worse than hell. With their forced preorder content.

As a matter of fact, if you want a complete game with ALL content, you have to pirate it. I think, that says all about the state of the games today.

petitmal: Where did you find this???
There are various D1 mods.....I was trying to find a way to play multiplay with my son, and played Awake.....which is a different one. That was ok......but we eventually found this one. It is awesome. Just google Diablo The Hell. You'll find all sorts of stuff. There is a place to download, wiki page, items list, forum.

Hmmm... well, it seems your mind is pretty much set, but I'd definitely say Soul Reaver. That game is just great. Superb voice acting, gothic setting, memorable characters, lots of secrets and places to explore in ravaged Nosgoth, great puzzles, decent action, just to name a few of the things the game has going for it.

question:

what way you use to buy from GOG ?
1.visa/mastercard
2.paypal
3.something else (specify if applicable)
Just woke up. When it says last chance, is it last round of offers, or is Rise of Triads the FINAL deal on offer for this sale?

Knofbath: Rise of the Triad is the first "Last Chance" game.
It certainly seems to be motivating people to buy the game...

We're assuming it means it's the last chance for that particular game (this is the first time it's shown up so no way to be certain).
24 left maybe Jack Bauer can do something
