Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

XEternalDreamX: I might buy the entire series, plus the Neverwinter books with him in it. I like the portions I read but I am iffy about buying it because I can't seem to find the list so I don't miss any books including the main series.

shadowbaneaxe: You can buy the first 3 Drizzt books in a bundle to see if you like it enough to get the rest.
That definitely sounds like a good idea, thanks man! I will be going tomorrow to get it! =)

nijuu: Yes. Altho some say too formula and simplistic. Im a fan and have most of the books

You have the Homeland series, Crystal Shard series.. Never Winter series etc..... The one starting with Lone Drow... i can remember them all off the top of my head. He is pretty consistent although in one trilogy (forget which) its less about Drizzt more about one of the other chars.

Xabyer_B: 23:57, I want to sleep. Please, gog launch 500 copies of Jack keane 2.

The Crystal Shard or Homeland trilogy is a good start.

Bovrillor: Have I missed the last chance for 'Don't Starve'?
We don't know. It can come back for a third time.

Buenro-games: Wohooo, whoever is the 10,000th post gets 10 games in this promo FREE!!!!

Thanks GOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Indeed, GOG is always doing fun things like this. Maybe they will be cool enough to give everyone who participated a single freebie of GOG's choosing for being good sports?
Probably not, but it would be quite GOGian of them to do so, don't you think?
avatar
XEternalDreamX: I know this isn't the same author but were the Drizzt series of books great? (if you read it)

Uzur9: R.A. Salvatore I find is good. I prob have like 3 or 4 Trilogies I gotta pick up and read of his work.
After almost playing through Icewind Dale (at least I think I was close to completing it before the bloody game crashed all my save files) I´m very intrested to read the books that the game is based on. The game is really good even though it´s more like Diablo than BG.

The crystal shard series was his debut, it was originally supposed to be Wulfgar's series... Can see how well that went.

mkess: Additionally they made a big mistake, by adding the auction house, and limiting the item drops. This kills the fun completely. And the replay value tends to Zero.
Indeed. Since you can't get good drops everything just ends up 'sell for gold' and you need several million to get anything good in the auction house probably.

Limited inventory space always got to me too in D1 & D2, having mules to keep items you wanted to keep rather than being forced to throw them away. The Zy-El mod was awesome since you had unlimited stash size (PlugY), and a shared one so you could get items and give it to other characters in your computer without creating a multi-player game just to transfer stuff.

ZapMcRaygunn: Actually, many of the Jack Keane jokes are all done in fun. Most people aren't really that upset.
You must admit Keanegate was pretty funny.
avatar
mortalkombat: WHAT IS Keanegate ????
Jack Keane 2 has been up twice so far, 50 copies then 100 at $11.99 a copy. Making it the second most expensive game in the sale, and nobody is interested at that price. So it stalled, both times. the second run ran about 5 hours for 100 copies...

and you gave it a name? keane-gate? rofl ....

what is going on with you people rofl

CorranHorn: The movies are good but imho can´t compare to the book, Tolkien explains things that never are explained in the movies and Jackson did some changes (like replacing a major character in the book).
avatar
AngryAlien: Agreed. I´ve read the book way before the movies were made and one should definitely read it. Although I am glad they left Tom Bombadil out of the movies, that fella just makes no sense. Which is rare for Tolkien.
Tom Bombadill is a character, that would fit more in his prequel "The Hobbit". He wrote "The hobbit" as fairy tale for his children.

But in the beginning of the "Lord of Rings" he had no idea in what direction the book was going. And after experiencing the Word War, his writing slowly changed to a darker mood. Seeing the book as whole, Tom Bombadill did not fit anymore.

Xabyer_B: Triad is the first game.
I hope it's "succes" wont make gog stop putting "last chances" i am really hoping to complete my D&D collection and/or get homm V and/or outcast
