Of course it is spam. I've been saying that for month. rtcv doesn't care because he's a drooling maniac, and GOG doesn't care because lol what forum?
timppu: Yes, so I skip it. Problem solved. Thanks to rtcvb32 for keeping his infowars messages within that one thread that I can easily skip if I want. It's not like we had "infowars" related shit flooding the forum before. He's not containing the problem- he created the problem.
But yes, the best thing to do is just to ignore it, like I've been doing for weeks now. Leave the sad bastard alone to his echo chamber. That won't make him stop, nothing will, but it will stop being a waste of sane people's time.

Thanks everyone (except rtcvb32) for your comments.
I guess my thought process is, why does this selfish person get his own thread on the first page of the discussion page? What if others did the same thing? Why should we all have to skip that thread rather than have it not exist? It doesn't relate to games, it doesn't have any meaningful contribution from others, its just rtcvb32 posting rubbish and other people either trolling or trying to reason with him (until they inevitably move on).
I'm not suggesting I would try to reason with rtcvb32, clearly that would be a futile exercise. i was wondering how people felt about reporting his posts as spam and whether that would have any effect.
Obviously thats a fairly drastic thing to do on an internet forum but in my view what rtcvb32 is doing is nothing more than spam, albeit as xa_chan pointed out at least it is confined to one thread.
It doesn't seem like anyone is too concerned about it though, so its fine with me for rtcvb32 to carry on in his crazy little world.

Wait a minute... is this thread stealth-advertising, raising awareness about the infowars thread? I can imagine lots of GOG forum users now going to check the thread to see what all the hoopla is about.
(I am not even sure what "infowars" is, but apparently some kind of rightwing, pro-Trump youtube channel?)

1. literally nobody has interest in his thread but trolls, everybody else either doesn't care about it or wishes it would go away
2. he has no interest in engaging in or promoting active discussion, and has proven so on numerous occasions
3. he generally acts ignorant and disrespectful in how he conducts it, although, in his defense, it wasn't necessarily unprovoked, since insults get hurled at him quite often
By my definition, spam is the constant posting and reposting of the same thing over and over again or links/advertisement with no point but to get you to visit a particular thing. Therefore, as much as I'd hate to do that to a legitimate user, I'd be just fine with reporting his posts as spam, and could do so with a clean conscience.

I feel that it's pretty obvious - within the first few posts - what the thread is about, so if one gets annoyed with the updated content then the solution is simple: stop reading the thread updates.

To me it's spam as well, because it's just a collection of links to the same sites over and over and over again. And most of the time rtcvb32 isn't even interested in discussing the content.
But yeah, as long as it is just that one thread I'm able to ignore it.

You can block certain threads by keywords without blocking any user.
But if your goal is to reproach / censure / criminate rtcvb32 - carry on. (-_-)

Yes it's a pro-trump youtube channel, because we all knew trump would be the president even back pre-9/11.
[/sarcasm]
Is it? I could say the same whenever someone links game references to MobyGames. Or Steam. Or HumbleBundle...

2. he has no interest in engaging in or promoting active discussion, and has proven so on numerous occasions
3. he generally acts ignorant and disrespectful in how he conducts it, although, in his defense, it wasn't necessarily unprovoked, since insults get hurled at him quite often
2) I've made my part in discussion. However various interesting facts just don't seem to be taken into account. New information is also coming out all the time, and I don't always have time to keep up on it. At some point i just have to move on.
3) Anymore I try to ignore posts that seem overtly negative, regardless of the content.

If it were my forum, I'd delete it, and as a user, I'd welcome its deletion, but if I were a mod charged with maintaining the status quo, I would not. Allowing the infowars thread to exist is not a break with the current de facto policy.

"moving on" isn't somehow furthering your intelligence. It's you not wanting to admit you're wrong and just deciding "well, I'll ignore that so I can be right on THIS point instead".
I'd agree this is a good idea if not for the fact that, to you, "overtly negative" means "disagreeing with my viewpoint". Which is exactly the reason why people have stopped treating you with respect and approaching you in the hopes of thoughtful discussion, instead just giving up all hope on you and resorting to mockery instead, because in their eyes, it's all you deserve, and you've sadly given them justification for this.
But these people are posting individual links and giving explanations of why the subject is interesting, also engaging in healthy discussions on them, not just slamming posts with humongous amounts of links, ignoring what everybody says, then doing it again and again.
