fortune_p_dawg: when you say this, do you have any specific games in mind? i only ask because you make this argument with some frequency without citing examples (although you may have in the past).

Breja: I have posted lists a few times, but I'm happy to provide one again

Life Goes On
Marshlight
Tiny Echo
Wayward Manor
The Yawgh
The Amber Throne
Stick it to the Man
Lancelot's Hangover
Rusty Lake
Viking Squad
Midnight at the Celestial Palace
Aviary Attorney

There's more to be sure.
i guess it's simply a matter of preference. i have stick it to the man (on here, no less) and have played several others on that list, and i think lancelot's hangover looks like a good time as well. though i have to say, personally, for me anyway, i still prefer pixels as an art style to most of that stuff. the 'drawn' style that a lot of indie games use never impresses me much (probably because i draw myself), granted some do it better than others. i mean, if we're simply talking graphics, i'd take owlboy, stardew valley, or iconoclasts over anything on that list.

again, not to say they are bad (some of those games are quite good) it's just that style wise, they are not my thing.

My bad. For whatever reason I was sure it's not on GOG. Well, good to know I was wrong :)

I guess it is a matter of taste (I wouldn't touch any of those you mention with a ten foot pole and it just baffles me that anyone plays Stardew Valley), but at least games on my list are all very different an unique in style. There's originality there, not just "hey, remember how much fun you had with those pixely games way back when? wink wink nudge nudge".

Pixel art is a medium. That's like saying people who use oil paints are pandering to nostalgia or pretentious hipsters or something. A game using pixel art isn't automatically doing it because "lol i <3 retro".

True but also.. pixel\stylyzed graphics are preferred because they're also cheaper than the more realistic ones.
low rated
Never. Deal with it.
Just one question...
Does the game feature an in-game map?
There are lots of rooms, lots of hidden rooms, lots of strawberies to collect.
That's a lot to remember and go back to.
I've played for just a couple of levels but didn't notice a map.
Is there one later in the game?
I up this thread because Gog made several anniversary videos, and the french one clearly shows Celeste, both title screen and ingame sequences, and I would say without a lot of doubt that we can wait for this game to land here.

Still waiting :)

Chacranajxy: Celeste came out today, first on Steam, and it just launched on itch.io. Is GOG getting it? I'd like to get it here, but it's DRM-free on itch, and I have no idea if this is the usual GOG "too niche" shenanigans.

Dunno why it wouldn't be here, given that the dev already launched Towerfall and its expansion a couple years back. Game's apparently great. Really good reviews (if you're into that kinda thing), too. Everything points to this being the dev's opus magnum.
Do you mean GOG possibly saying that Celeste is too niche or the devteam saying that GOG is too niche? Since GOG is definitely less niche than itch.io.

Though as of present I kinda have itch.io and GOG on the same level, since both offer DRM-free gaming. GOG's got a leg up on itch.io for more efficiently communicating to me when there's a sale on games i've wishlisted, though...

Meanwhile...where's Axiom Verge?

dtgreene: From watching a little bit of gameplay, this game seems to be a fair pure platformer.

I prefer my pure platformers to be unfair, so I'll pass on this game.
Sorry for the months old quote, you made me chuckle and reminded me a game you might not know but...

Sadly, GOG and Nyu-Media reportedly had that one spat years ago and they're still not gonna work with each other...

I actually have heard of that game, and have played through the first level of the (2-level) demo, and I actually did enjoy it. (I actualy started the second level, though that particular death made me laugh for quite a while.)

What a shame. They sell it for $4.99. Does anybody know if it has any kind of drm?

I don't know about this, or I've forgotten. Do you happen to have a link? I've always hoped their games would make their way here, since most of what they publish seems to appeal to me.
