It is interesting how it always goes. I looked at the trailer and was like "Ummm... ok, pass.", the graphics and genre somehow put me off (platform puzzle with pixellated retro-look?).

But then I read this thread with lots of praise, as if it was the second, or even the third, coming of Jesus Christ the Savior of the Mankind. So maybe it is, and I just pay too much attention to only a mere trailer.

Still, I'd much rather see 3-10 years old AAA titles here, but if this game is good, then it is, I guess.

Even if it comes here the GOG version will probably just get outdated.

ANOTHER indie pixel art platformer... Because there haven't been dozens upon dozens of those released.

Oh, so if there are a lot of games of one kind we shouldn't be excited about more or they shouldn't come to the platform?

Well GOG.com has plenty of role playing games, so I guess we don't need anymore of those!

All that matters to me is the quality of the game, and a lot of people have been saying it's a great game.

I really hope it comes to GOG.com so I can buy it.
As ever, I find the isolationist viewpoint to be exceedingly selfish and without merit.

Curatorship is just censorship wearing a sheepskin.

Chacranajxy: Everything points to this being the dev's opus magnum.
I see what you did there. ;)

bhrigu: It will be here just after the "Wizard" is found! :p
Seriously though, where is that wizard?

Chacranajxy: Man, I’m not playing that wishlist bullshit this time. If GOG releases it in the next week or so, when I’m ready to play it, cool. I’ll buy it here. But I’m not going to wait for them to get their shit together when it’s already DRM-free somewhere else.
My feelings exactly. I like itch.io quite a bit, the only reason I'm holding out for Opus Magnum is that I don't like the Humble Store.

I'm just tired of this particular fad.
People churn out these shotty pixel art games a dime a dozen.

Yeah, they do. But what if - and hear me out here - once in a while, there's a good one?

Ive bought a few. Most are pure grade shit. I think Dead Cells was ok. It it the hipster jackpot; indie, pixel art, procedural generation, 2D platformer.

But most of these games feel like a concept and nothing else. A simple and repetitive gameplay gimmick wrapped around pixel art because they can't afford to pay a decent artist. Forgive me for feeling that is a waste of my money.

Most of them do fall into that category. This one does not.

Uh, good pixel art is highly skilled work, just look at Iconoclasts or Owlboy.

The fact that there are a lot of indie games with bad pixel art doesn't in any way diminish the value of good pixel art. There are lots of games with terrible polygonal graphics, does that mean I should dismiss all 3D polygonal games?
From watching a little bit of gameplay, this game seems to be a fair pure platformer.

I prefer my pure platformers to be unfair, so I'll pass on this game.

Did you ask GOG about it?
Maybe they rejected the Wizard for being "too niche"!!
:p
I tried playing the "made in 4 days" free original (the one Barry linked upthread) when I saw the pre-release hype. It's trash. I doubt the paid game is much better.

(I love good pixel art, but very few of the screens on google images look genuinely pleasing to look at. I mean, wtf is this shit? And you can't run a pleasing color gradient through a shitty filter and call it art, that's just not how it works.)
