Tarm: It'll open up the universe for you. Several actually. SciFi is like THE B-movie genre.
B-movies is one of the best escapist ways there is. So if your life ain't interesting enough you owe it to yourself to be a fan. :)

Options are good though.

Be careful with Babylon 5. That TV show is so good it'll ruin a lot of other shows for you. It's the best TV show I know of.

Be careful with Babylon 5. That TV show is so good it'll ruin a lot of other shows for you. It's the best TV show I know of.

the special effects are a bit ...so so
ds 9 looks better

but then i got an scary amount of doctor who to watch too

Babylon 5s strength have always been its coherent story, the very well done characters and their interactions. That makes special effects not very important for me. :)

just like classic who ;p
but the eye candy does help to sell the show personally though so far i think ds 9 is better then babylon 5

Special effects are never the measure of a good tv show. And Babylon 5 is superb. I sort of regrett that I remember it so well, as I would love to watch it again. The only show that could possibly rival it for the title of "best tv series ever" is Robin of Sherwood.

i havent watched babylon 5 in full yet so i cant quite comment on that yet

but cal me crazy but i dont think a thread called some solid dick is the best thread to talk about tv series with such heavy subject matter as ds 9

I could never get into DS9. Star Trek without a ship to fly around in, meet strange stuff and people and having adventures doesn't work for me. Didn't find the characters very interesting either. But I know I'm in the minority with that.
