GTA V and Minecraft

Kind of the same game if you ask me. :P

Both seem like a lot of running around and doing nothing much else except for moving around cars and blocks. But what do I know? I'm playing a game that is about moving around numbers, without even any running around.

Really? you do realize GTA V romanticizes drugs, murder, prostitution, theft in high def while minecraft started out as a simplified crafting sim
GTA V
what is minecraft

Dragon's dogma
Witcher series
Tales from the borderlands
are all games that they might find interesting, with a mix of puzzles and gore

higix: Kid 1's favorite game is Grand Theft Auto V.
Kid 2, Minecraft. Also, Kid 2 and myself puked out a couple of very simple diy games in Scratch once upon a time.
Kid 3 is liking Kerbal at the moment, but he skips around alot of games.
Kid 1: Saints' Row would seem to be the logical choice, then. (Hope it's an older teen.)

Kid 2: Crashlands could be a solid pick. Teen-appropriate humor and lots and lots of crafting!

Other very tentative suggestions, since they all like Fallout 3: Two Worlds II (open world, crafting), Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

Puzzle-type games: Waking Mars should probably be at the top of your list. You don't kill things and it's almost impossible to die. Technically a platformer, but doesn't really feel like one.

Have you ever played those? Not really pertaining to this thread, I'm just curious.
The Stalker series... go with Shadow of Chernobyl first. They are first person shooters set in Chernobyl. With mutants, and different factions, and a great storyline, they are all great games! Very atmospheric, decent graphics, especially on maximum, and run on any pc (pretty much).
I'm really not into Minecraft-y games and such, but how about World of Goo? It's no sandbox, but maybe the fun & humor +building type puzzle gameplay would appeal to them.

SpaceChem
Infinifactory
TIS
Shenzen I/O
SpaceChem
SpaceChem
SpaceChem
Opus Magnum (only if they own a mobile).
Could always just create accounts for them, drop some seed money into each one and let them go at it.
The title kind of suggest giving teenagers as gifts. :P

LOL

A bit, but the FPP gets me motion-sick after a while, so not too often. Plus I have to be in just the right mood. They're an "every once in a while even I need some over-the-top grungy perversion" games. :) I would never have suggested them if GTA hadn't been OK'd for the kid at some point.

I asked because I had a question about #4 but I don't want to derail the thread.

That's a really good suggestion – although I would let them create the accounts themselves (so they can choose their own usernames) and then provide them with some wallet funds.

So what do you think of Saints Row: The Third? I'm asking because I had a ball with Saints Row 2 but remain somewhat hesitant about getting the former (as well as the fourth game) due to the many criticisms levelled at it (especially when compared to Saints Row 2).

Oh, and juullimi pilluarit!

SR 3 puts SR 2 to shame. It's bigger everything. Bigger guns, bigger explosions, bigger purple dildos. The first ten minutes alone will make your head explode. Picture having a gunfight while free falling from an exploded cargo plane that is dumping all of it's cargo (cars) around you, losing your parachute, diving into another plane, blowing it up, jumping out, having another gunfight, all while free falling mind you, and catching your best friend who is also free falling, all before actually hitting the ground. XD

A few minor things, they got rid of the Taxi missions and made some of the other ones like Escort and the Chopper attack ones a little easier.
