Hey guys!

We're watching SOMA closely as it nears tomorrow's release - and I just wanted to pop in and let you know how great of a game it's looking to be.

One of our own number has played it, and he loved it - he calls it a "mature, hard sci-fi horror" and almost jumped off his seat when he saw the various ratings and scores. :D

Metacritic: 87/100 (link)
Destructoid: 9/10 (link)
IGN: 8.1/10 (link)
Eurogamer: Recommended (link)
Gamespot: 9/10 (link)

Tell us if you're excited for this one and what appeals most to you!

Is it early access or is GOG getting a late release?

Edit: oh right preorder.

For some reason this kind of grosses me out.
I'll be buying it when I've got the money...kinda kills me that I can't pre-order it.
Are those reviews trust worthy?

That was my question. I doubt I have agreed with a single one of those websites on previous reviews. Lowest Common Denominator to my mind. The game looks ok I suppose, not really my sort of game, and a bit on the pricey side.
I've heard great things about it myself:

"..there is always SOMA, delicious SOMA, half a gramme for a half-holiday, a gramme for a week-end, two grammes for a trip to the gorgeous East, three for a dark eternity on the moon..."
SOMA looks cool enough that I pre-ordered it several weeks ago. Based on the live action trailer, I figured this game would ask some uncomfortable questions about the nature of 'the self' and I'm happy to see that it does not disappoint (at least according to reviews).

Four for a journey to a brave new world. ;)

If you don't trust those reviews I am pretty sure you'll trust mine :)

I have just finished SOMA and for me it's one of the best games ever made in terms of storytelling and maturity of its subject matter. And you don't even have to be a huge fan of horror games to enjoy it (I'm not). It's a hard sci-fi story that is more or less on par with novels by Phillip K. Dick or movies by David Cronenberg. It's scary as hell but it's intellectually challenging at the same time.

[ totally not getting a sales bonus for that :) ]
Destructoid, IGN, Gamespot... They only have two ratings: 9/10 and 10/10. So... 2x 9/10 and 1x 8.1/10 (<- What does that mean? Sucks like Windows 8 after its overhaul?) seems to be pretty bad :/

Just kidding, I've heard good things about SOMA too, but ratings from these sites are usually completely worthless.

I don't have the money for it right now, but definitely looks interesting.
Also, 9.5/10 from Rely on Horror.
I found these two teaser videos to be both stirring and eerie:

InfraSuperman's making me look pretty low-brow...

Soma is what they would take when
Hard times opened their eyes
Saw pain in a new way
High stakes for a few names
Racing against sun beams
Losing against their dreams
In your eyes

(This song is actually perfect for under the bay on bart heading from the east side into town.)
