Hmm, pizza with pineapple & ham, my favourite, yummy, yummy. :D

You like ham, you like pineapple on a pizza, and you don't like Deus Ex. You're only one step away from me writing off all your opinions as those of a madman, and that step is liking shark cartilage.
Here's a suggestion for a new sale: Play to Pay! In order to get a discount on a game of your choice you have to sent in near end savegames from games you own on GOG to prove that you actually played through them. The more you sent in, the higher the discount or the higher the price of the regular game allowed for discounting. ;)

We just need a sponsor to pay for all the time invested in GOG employees checking the thousands of savegames (that's assuming GOG members actually play through some of their games, of course). :P

Crosmando: It has nothing to do with my wallet. I just find it annoying that distributors like GOG and Steam pander to cheapos who buy everything only when it's >60% off, and yet don't do anything for their most loyal customers, who buy most stuff at day one at full price or there abouts.
um... they get to play the game from day one without needing to wait for a sale?

and they get this nice glowing feeling inside from knowing they have fed another indie developer and a gOg employee today!

Do you mean customers who buy most stuff they want at full price or customers who buy most of the catalogue at full price? Because the cheapos and sale addicts tend to spend quite a lot during the sales, too, they just distribute their money across a wide spectrum of titles they end up not playing. From GOG's perspective though, I don't see much difference between e.g. someone spending 60 dollar on the one true CRPG they deem worthy of attention among all the platformer crap and someone spending 60 dollars during a sale on all types of stuff. It's not as if one $60 game sold is necessarily a better profit for GOG than ten games sold for $6.

I guess it would be bad business for GOG if the people buying ten games discounted to $6 then spent the next five years playing them, not caring about any other purchases, but that's not how it usually works. ;)

But who knows, that might very well be the outcome if GOG stopped doing sales. Besides, the sales are not a completely random decision by the stores, but a consequence of the oversaturation of the market. Sales encourage customers to buy more and try more.

Yes but people who buy games at sales probably buy more games in total over the year, so I think it evens itself out. I have of-course no formal proof of this, its just my speculation.

I think a lot of people actually do compare how many other games they can get for the same price as a newly released full-priced one. There's nothing unethical about this, its just a matter of priorities and preferences.

If you have other good games to choose from at GOG there's less rush or incentive to buy a new game at full-price. Unless you are indeed very eager to play that particular game at this particular moment in time.

Buying games at full-price is a luxury to me. Partly because there are simply too many games I'd be interested in, and partly because I know that in 3 months or so the game will be on sale.

In relation to this I also never feel rushed to buy a new game, whether I play the game now or a year from now doesn't matter, I always have other games to play in the meantime. More to the point, some of them offer gameplay that's very similar to the new ones I'm interested in.
no fall promo? or is it too early yet?
maybe only a winter promo?

anyways with that captcha it wont be logging in that fast cause we first have to look for images before we can enter.
i know theres loads of fishy people hacking the living daylights out of the internet, but are the good guys so behind compared to the badguys? Then we have a serious problem regarding digital security.

That seems like fun idea. However, it does not seem to work in practice. Not in a general way. For example, some games are way easier and shorter than others.

What I could see done in practice is that, as part of the release of the game Foobar 8, GOG could partner with the makers of the game, and if you would send them a savegame at the end of Foobar 7, you would get a discount for the new release.

johnnygoging: november will be here soon. it will be the 1 year anniversary of the original insomnia sale.

dear god. I can't recall the difference between the first one and the second one. I'm gonna start to hyperventilate.

we must stop this gog community! we can't let them do another one! we must stop them!

RWarehall: There should be something soon. We are due for the "Fall" sale. Of course last year, they waited until the end of November and the Winter sale came something like 2 weeks after that. In past years I could swear the Fall sale was much earlier than that...
That's global warming for you...
Hmmm, streaming schedule hasn't been updated. Something out of the ordinary for each week.

Maybe there'll be a Halloween sale this week? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GOG

and the games on sale will be the ones including monsters like mummies, witches, skeletons and the usual halloween monsters i asume?
cause if they put up the whole collection then there will be less to sell at the other promos.
so all games that fit halloween style would be nice.

I guess the fpp robot and tech shooters would be off because the base halloween is witches, and skellies and monsters, and pumkins (and more like those).
